Girl, 13, won't leave airport, wants job as flight attendant

A 13-year-old girl who dresses like a flight attendant and maintains that her ambitions lie in the sky has baffled her parents and local police by insisting on roaming around Guangzhou?s airport.

The girl, Luo Siqi, who has been lingering around the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport since July, first came to the notice of local police officers in August when they decided to question her for the first time.

At the time, she was dressed in a China Southern Airlines? flight attendant uniform and was carrying documents about the airline.

Police twice in August escorted her to a Guangzhou children?s welfare centre, but she insists on returning to the airport.

?I am truly in love with the sky. Let me go to the airport,? she was reported by the New Express Daily as telling police.

The girl?s wishes have baffled her adoptive parents, who want police to investigate the case as they suspect someone has been telling her how to act.

Appearing more mature than her years, the girl told the Daily that she was abandoned by her biological parents shortly after she was born, and had since been adopted and re-homed more than once.

Luo, who has graduated from elementary school but is not enrolled in middle school, lives in the nearby city of Luoding with her cousin, a relative of her adoptive father who now lives in an elderly care centre.

Luo left home for Guangzhou in July after deciding to ?take a look at the big city?, according to the paper.

?I love blue sky, and have always dreamed of flying. By doing this, I am a bit closer to my dream,? she said when asked to explain her behaviour.

Luo said she got her outfits online. ?I once bought four suits at the same time, [to accommodate] four different seasons.?

On Taobao.com, China?s largest online shopping site, a costume that resembles that of a China Southern Airlines flight attendant?s uniform costs between 280 and 3,000 yuan.

At 13? She's either Very focussed, or needs to see someone.

If she is just determined to make her career a Flight Attendant, then she need only wait another 5 years (unless the minimum age is Different)

Oh you silly girl, you do realise you need at least a year's experience for an entry level position.

Nothing wrong with dreaming. She's going about it all wrong, though. First you need the education and then comes the rest.

Sometimes opening other "doors" may get her there faster, when shes older of course!

I've been to that exact airport :)

The girl definitely gets +1 for trying, her courage and determination. I just hope that she understands that it is a tough job, with certain risks, that requires good endurance.
