I've been using this site for many many years , mainly as an observer , I like reading the flame wars and the front page news. Generally, post counts mean zero and are just for the posters ego and have little bearing on teh tech knowledge that they may / may not have. I could be a new member with 1 post and a coder for Microsoft, whereas an older member could have 14,000 posts and work in a burger bar.... get my point ? To the people complaining about the change ..... GROW UP and act like the adults you pretend to be . Seriously I was crying with laughter at the begging posts made by certain individuals in this thread. So thanks for the lulz. I like the way the site is changing and the direction its heading . I will be buying a sub as soon as I get paid , I wont be posting , just reading as usual. I fully support sites that have a positive and clean outlook. Nice touch with the staff names as well. Likes on comments are counted toward you forum likes though afaik. I could be wrong but I am almost completely certain that I used to get notifications of any reply and like of front page comments. Now I'm not sure when this was happening, perhaps after an upgrade or when it stopped. Anyway, like I said, I'm not bothered by it in the slightest but I did like the notifications.
