He was robbed of items he had bought from a nearby Asda supermarket... including a copy of Grand Theft Auto. So for all we know, he bought diamonds with that GTA copy and was robbed on his way home from the shop, just like many others around the world that didn't have any GTA copies on them or even knew the game was released/existed. People get stabbed and mugged in London all the time it never makes the headlines this much. I bet the only possible link between the robbing and GTA is that perhaps the robber thought he could easily target little gaming nerds wandering around alone at night.
