WinRAR Fail

Question

Alright, I have been wanting to play these two games, but WinRAR is needed to extract it. I have nothing against winrar and I downloaded it. Although, each time I either of the games I got this error message "This archive is in an either unknown format or damaged" Ok, so I downloaded the games again, still no luck. I downloaded them from different places. Still no luck. I repaired them, it only created an empty folder. I installed winrar again, making sure it was the right bit type and the newest version. The games still don't work. SAVE ME!

Are you saving them to the same Hard Drive each time? Perhaps, you have a faulty Hard Drive. I know it seems unlikely, but this exact thing happened to me once... It was the Hard Drive's fault.

I wouldn't encourage downloading any link posted by a member this new. I mean no offense to OP but this is a perfect setup for "I can't get this file to run, can you?" scam.

Take caution.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with WinRAR.  Something is corrupting your downloads, probably anti-virus or something similar.

Try disabling anti-virus (or any other program you're using to scan downloads) & then re-download fresh copies of those files.

*also try using another web browser in case it's a random Chrome exension or something else breaking the downloads.

So you title post blaming WinRAR is now what? A fail?

No, I just titled it that since I had no other problems with any other extracting programs, and I was failing with Winrar. I want help not people questioning me.

What brand hard drive do you have?  Most manufacturers have diagnostics you can download from their website & run.  (e.g. Western Digital has one). Try looking at the support download links for your drive's manufacturer.

If the drive is going bad then there's no much you can do, backup immediately & start planning to replace it.

If you used a download manager to download them, then don't.

Use the browsers built in down-loader.

I have seen this on my download history a few times, once it was because whom ever packed it did it wrong.
