Steam will honour them, it's a bit of a dick move from a business sense, so if you come across a game you want from Steam and it's only a few pounds more to buy through steam, I would >.< Other than that, it's a good way to go :) If you're playing on steam, also check out DotA 2. Some require english patches to be manually applied after every public game patch if you don't want to play everything in Russian, there are not alot of games like that but enough to drive you crazy.
