Angry Birds Star Wars II appears on WP8, iOS, and Android; no Windows 8 port yet
by John Callaham
Rovio's Star Wars spin-off game for their Angry Birds franchise has been hugely successful with tens of millions of downloads recorded. Today, the game's sequel made its previously promised launch on iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 devices (in fact, it launched one day earlier than planned).
Angry Birds Star Wars II's storyline is based loosely on the prequel movie trilogy and features over 30 playable characters. The biggest new feature compared to previous Angry Birds games is that the "evil" pig characters, including their version of Darth Vader, can be played for the first time.
There are 120 levels in Angry Birds Star Wars II and if history is any indication there will be additional levels released for free in the coming months. It also incorporates interaction with over 30 TELEPODS, a new collectable series of figures from Hasbro. Placing one of those TELEPODS made for the game on top of a tablet or phone will unlock that character and his or her powers in the game.
Angry Birds Star Wars II costs 99 cents to download for the Windows Phone 8 version, and that's the same price for the iOS and Android ports. There's no word yet if Windows 8 will get Angry Birds Star Wars II, as it has with previous games in the Angry Birds series.
