I must easily go through a pair every 4-6 months and it's getting silly. I don't have a limit in mind but I don't really have much money so the lower the better. I use my headphones on two occasions, at the Gym and on my walk to and from work but because of the Gym I don't really want the big over head straps as I can't see them staying on when running and don't want to take a risk based on someone else's experience of them staying on. I'm no audiophile so I don't need the clearest best headphones ever but I do want quality. I do prefer the in hear ones with the foam/rubber keeping them in there. The issue i have with headphones no matter what brand or price always seems to end up the same, one side will stop working. It will start with the odd drop out on one side to eventual total loss of sound from one of the headphones. I don't know if that is a common problem and there is an easy "feature" to look for in the cable quality when I'm shopping for headphones but if someone does know something it would be good. Wireless is a potential option but you I know you end up paying more for that and I'm not sure if its worth it. Ideally I'd also like to stay away from the over-ear clip style headphones (like below), in the past I've always found them uncomfortable or difficult to fit but I'm not completely opposed to them. The only person who can help you with that is yourself. It's the cable, and I now know what its because of the way I'm wrapping the cable round my phone when I'm done sometimes. I know someone that had the same problem, so he put a bunch of hotglue where the wires connect together and also hotglued where they wires enter the earphone. I on the other hand, I too go though headphone like no tomorrow, but they are cheap enough to get replacements of, I use mine at the gym and am quite a fan of Sony MDR-G45LP's They probably last about 18-24 months and that is daily gym use for an hour a day, getting rather wet and thrown into the bottom of my gym bag. To be honest it seems to be the other end of the wire (at least this time) if I wiggle the end with the 3.5mm jack that goes into my phone i'll get occasional bursts of sound in both ears. Syanide Posted September 20, 2013 Share Posted September 20, 2013 I recently got a bluetooth headset, now the particular model I got is not good for you as they're large and go over the head so they'd be pretty awful for running, but I'd consider a cheaper bluetooth model if I were you. The quality has improved much over the past few years, and the best thing imo right now is that many come with a usb port. So not only are they incredibly easy to charge, when connected to the computer over the usb cable they serve as a usb sound card and headset so you can use them even while charging. You'd basically never have to worry about the cable breaking again. They work great with the phone as well. They make all their headphones with actual metal, not plastic, and they reinforce their cables with Kevlar. I have a few other pairs of V-MODA headphones and I've never had any problems. They are more pricey than some other brands, but in my opinion it is so worth it. They sound great as well! Thanks I'll have a look through them, charging shouldn't be as massive issue as I work at a desk so can always made sure they have a full charge before anything as long as they last 3+ hours.
