Speaking with GameSpot at the Tokyo Game Show, top Xbox bod Albert Panello said the One doesn't "support vertical orientation," or: you shouldn't stand it up. Hence why I threw out a completely rational objection to the claim, how come other slot loading drives work fine? Have MS tested it and it scratches discs? If so wouldn't you want to avoid that and use a slot loading drive that doesn't do that instead of relying on the general public not potentially doing something they've done for generations? Because my original comment stated that when I first saw it I could tell it was meant to be used in the horizontal position and not be placed vertical. I never commented on the drive only how it looked to me when I first saw the boxes design. Even early reviewer videos showed that the design was done with horizontal and not vertical as the placement. To be fair he just said the drive wasn't designed to work on its side, not that it won't. There are extra considerations you have to make so that discs don't scratch when operating vertically and such. But in either case, what does it matter?
