Deciding on a new Video Card

Recommended Posts

Going from a ATI 5750. So looking for something that is a worthy upgrade.

Currently have i5 2500k @ 4 Ghz, 8 GB of DDR 3 ram, SSD, WD Raptor, one other SATA HD, and currently run games on my 20 inch monitor at 1680x1050. My budget is anywhere from $275 to $500.

Looking to play Battlefield 4 and all the upcoming games on at least High settings but want maximum quality if possible.

$312 seems like a good price for it.

$312 for a 4GB 770? That's a steal. I have the 2GB 770 with the ACX cooler and I'm incredibly happy with it.

Also, at your resolution I'm fairly confident you'll run Battlefield 4 very well.

Yes.

I would have to say the same.

Unless you're also getting a much bigger monitor (2560x1600) or adding another 2 to your current one, 4GB is overkill. Also, on the 25th AMD is going to announce their next cards. I'd wait and see what they'll offer since BF4 is a few months away.

That is true but I got a 2nd one for a friend free.

We will still see what happens then.

Rumour has it, AMD are going to offer BF4 as a free game with their new lineup, not sure how true.

But again, 4GB on a video card is a marketing gimmick, totally not worth the extra money for gaming at any resolution... :/

We need a graphics card for the future.

Info for the new AMD video card has already been leaked. 512 bit bus, 4 or 6 GB of video ram, etc.

Whatever the specs, the top card will be outside your budget since it's meant to take on and beat Titan.

dunno why theyd even want to try beat the titan seeing a 780 GTX isnt far off at half the price so pricing has to be competitive otherwise they wont buy it. R9 290x has already leaked and i doubt its a "volcanic island gpu" cus its 28nm instead of 20nm but it could be the one there on about. it only slightly out paces the titan but i doubt amd would slap the same price tag on it.
