This may sound stupid, but I am fed up with the Internet we get here in Canada (currently Ottawa, Ontario). I know most other places aren't great, but from what I have heard so far, Google Fiber is awesome. So that would be my only reason to move. Now I work online at home. I work for a company that has people all around the world, but has offices in Portuguel. What do I need to do, what can I do, my options for living in Kansas City (thats where Google Fiber is right?) if I still want to be a Canadian citizen but live in Kansas. Is this possible, what is needed? Anything I should know about living in the US, or even about living in Kansas? I did some searching but didn't really find anything, I assume because I am not sure exactly what to search for. Ideas, suggestions, etc.... astropheed Veteran Posted September 23, 2013 Veteran Share Posted September 23, 2013 Canada will allow dual citizenship and America will not force you to renounce your Canadian Citizenship. You will require a Visa with work rights and time. Eventually after a probationary period you can become a resident, and then some time later a Citizen. This process takes a long time. I personally wouldn't recommend immigrating over something as silly as internet. As I've immigrated from Canada to Australia. It's complicated, time consuming, expensive and annoying. I believe their basic install includes a wireless router built into their internet device while a deluxe version of it (with actual Ethernet output) is also available. The company itself is actually owned by the town itself since no regular ISP would take on such a cost without having a huge return. They aren't expecting a huge return on the investment though, they just wanted to offer something to attract businesses and people. They spent about 6 million into this. I'm currently using 20 down and 2 up for $65/month with no monthly bandwidth caps. But you can get even higher speeds like 200 down and 10 up for $250/month.
