Good things really do come to those who wait.

CBS has given a series order to Battle Creek, a new(ish) drama from Breaking Bad boss Vince Gilligan and House creator David Shore.

The network is moving forward with 13 episodes of the detective series, which will debut in the 2014-15 TV season, our sister site Deadline reports.

The show ? which Gilligan first developed at the Eye Network more than a decade ago ? follows two very different detectives who are paired up to reduce crime in Battle Creek, Mich. One thinks that the task requires cynicism and deception but few resources; the other believes that naivete, trust and tons of resources are what?s needed.

After Breaking Bad finished production on its final season, the finale of which airs this Sunday (AMC, 9/8c), Gilligan was able to revisit the project. He and Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad) will executive-produce with Shore, who will assume showrunner duties. Sony TV and CBS TV Studios will co-produce.
