X Rebirth Vs Star Citizen

Which one would be better for me?

For me I never got into Eve Online or really any of those space type games.

I really love how both of these games look, and what at least one of them might be doing for PC Graphics.

I am not an online/multiplayer type of person, I enjoy my single player experiences.

Which game would be better for me? Which one is more of a Single Player game, which one is "easier"? I always hated games that kept playing/changing when you were not playing it, do both do this?

What do you mean X does not play when you're not playing. The single player part of star Citizen shouldn't either I think.

but why choose, X Rebirth is coming now soon ish. while Star Citizen is like a year away or so ?

the X games are very hardcore though, and if you like the more casual wing commander/privateer style it may not be for you.

Personally I'll be getting both.

I just went and checked the wikipedia page for X Rebirth and it says the following under gameplay:

As with previous installments in the series the game will take place in a universe that is active even when the player is not present, involving simulated trade, combat, piracy and other features.

I'm not sure how much of a dealbreaker that is for you though.

Hmmm, I never really noticed the games doing stuff when I wasn't playing.

And technically it doesn't as such either. The game merely knows you've been gone a while when you get back and as such there may have been some pirate raids here and there, I don't think there's major border changing conflicts going on when you're gone.

Though it may or may not affect automated ships with hired pilots which do trade runs for you or any facilities you own, not sure about that. Never really did, I just mostly shot stuff :)

One is coming in 2013, one is coming in 2015.  They should both be great games (I have reservations about the earlier X games, but hopefully they aren't relevant anymore.)

And no, shouldn't be a problem although Star Citizen does have a persistent online world, I believe you can also play single player and not have that.

Both will likely be good games, Though I fear Star Citizen will fail to live up to the astronomical hype that they have managed to incur.

As for X Rebirth, I hope they make it a little more entry-friendly. The last few games, any sort of 'tutorial' they've had (if any) has felt like an afterthought at best. X's learning curve is like running up a cliff then having a black hole spontaneously appear down at the bottom to suck you in and tear you apart atom by atom.

Will X Rebirth support Oculus Rift? If not the obvious answer is Star Citizen, by a lot.

Provided you actually want to play the game with a giant monitor attached to your head, completely detached form anything and everything around you. Fun for a while, gets tiresome quickly.

meanwhile, and again, X rebirth is 2013, Star Citizen is at best 2015, so there's no either or,

Yeah, that giant 5 inch monitor. And yes, I do want that... I want it very damn much.

Depending on the final price I might end up getting one, of course then I would also have to get a modern replacement for my old F16 FLCS and TQS and Pedals, that would set me back more than the stupid goggles to. But get a pair of ski goggles and tape a nexus 7 in front of it and see how fun it is to have it on there for long periods of time.  Their promise of full HD res with new screens also annoy me as it's an intentional lie. the way their system works. firstly they don't even use the whole screen, there's a large percentage of the screen that will NEVER show anything but black. and even if it did. their system would still be at best FullHD/2. since the one full HD screen is for both eyes, combine that with the large unused screen estate and you're not even HD ready in pixel count.

And once you get a GF/Fianc?e/Wife who is either using a computer/gaming in the same room or want contact with you. you won't be using them much anyway.

It's at least a step in the right direction. If it sells well, which it will, it'll get the support it needs to go Full HD and beyond. Also, my Wife is just as excited for it as me. As for the price I think their aiming for the $300-$400 range, which to me is entirely acceptable. I'll likely buy two (Me+Wife), if the first one is as awesome as I'm hearing.
