OS X Mavericks Released for All Mac Developers as Golden Master Seed

Following today's release of OS X Mavericks Build 13A598 for members of the company's AppleSeed testing program, Apple has now posted the build for all registered Mac developers, referring to it as the "GM" (Golden Master) version that will be released to the public.

Apple has also seeded the GM build of Xcode 5.0.1 for building applications for Mavericks.

Apple is reportedly targeting a late October launch for Mavericks, with the company starting to train AppleCare staff on the upcoming operating system this week. Sources have indicated that training must be completed by October 11.

Update: Apple has also seeded developers with an iPhoto 9.4.7 update that "addresses an issue that could cause iPhoto to quit unexpectedly on launch when running OS X Mavericks GM Seed."

I'm looking forward to tags, the new energy saving features, long overdue improvements to multiple monitors and not feeling the need to gag when using Calendar.

I've been using the DP on my dev machine for a while now - multi-monitor support is SO much better. Probably worth the $30 or so they'll likely ask just for that.

Quite the rush job for a GM.

Game Center and Reminders makes the ui inconsistent with the recent visual upgrades to Contacts, Calendar and Notes.Screen%20Shot%202013-10-04%20at%209.00.0Screen%20Shot%202013-10-04%20at%208.59.3Screen%20Shot%202013-10-04%20at%208.56.5Screen%20Shot%202013-10-04%20at%209.00.5

Screen%20Shot%202013-10-04%20at%208.55.0

Then there's these not updated pieces, the Downloads Stack PDF still says Mountain Lion and the Trackpad videos still show Mountain lion as the background and then there's the issue of iBooks not having a show in finder option.

Apple just doesn't care about OS X anymore.

Personally, I love Mavericks! The Multiple Displays, Tabbed Finder and Tags make my life much easier!

Does anyone have the MD5 hash of the Golden Master for comparison?

I just installed OS X 10.9 as upgrade on my Macbook Air. So far so good.

One thing I noticed: Apple must have modified the colour profiles. Red in particular seems much more intense than on OS X 10.8.5.

Positive side effect: The upgrade unbroke the FaceTime HD camera, which yesterday's 10.8.5 Supplemental Update had broken on my machine.

Ironically the supplemental update was supposed to fix the FaceTime HD camera!

If you have a MacBook Air with an LG display there are a couple of calibrated profiles around which are a massive improvement!

For whatever reason it completely disabled it on my machine.

I'm out of luck then, as my MBA has a Samsung display.

*shrug*.  Would you rather have Apple update us with a few small new features every year and have an upgrade cost of $20 - $30 or rather hold onto it for multiple years and go back to charging $80 - $120?

I agree overall with your post.  A consistent looking UI in OS X use to be what set it apart from Windows.

Good thing I don't use GameCenter at all, but I am using Reminders quite a bit and wish they would have updated it.

I suspect we will see an OS X next year that has a lot of the UI elements iOS 7 has.
