Been having random blue screen of death since the beginning of today.

How do I go about posting the log for the event(s), so someone might

Thanks

- Looking at the resolution, from top

  • Have 30gb available || 700 total
  • No driver mentioned in log

I really hope its just the graphics drivers, which I am going to re-install, and if possible the version before the current.

Hmmm, this can be a problem, system don't have space to create so big restore point, do You have one partition, 700GB?

Yes! Just one main partition, should I partition it into two?

Did some digging, need an input on this.

I seem to share a similar issue with this individual - Win7 Memory leak

  • Problem started this morning after I uninstalled Avast Free Antivirus and installed Avast Pro. Antivirus which I later uninstalled.
  • Sometimes everything hangs for a few seconds. Everything returns to normal moments later.(been happening for a while - couple of weeks)

So could it be the hdd is failing (hardware related), or something else (software related) due to the Avast ?

I still think that Your problem is less HDD space related, quite possible that Avast installation triggered system restore point creation, then You have   BSOD. Try to use system cleaning tool, under advanced option You can find tool to clean old restore points and system backups files, system will remove everything besides latest restore point and eventual backup, Check how much space You can recover and then observe if BSOD problem persists.

700GB partition is way to big for system and not safe for Your data, example, Your system partition crash, all Your data need to be recovered, when You have separate partition for system, let say 100GB, and rest for data, If Your system will "die"   one day, then You need only reinstall system and programs, Your work/data/etc is safe on other partition :)

I was having random blue screens. I did a clean Windows install and reduced my overclocking and all is well so far. Do you overclock by any chance?

Me again. Another random blue screen.

Sorry about the belated reply - Pasteguin. Totally forgot about the thread. No! My computer (laptop) is not overclocked.

I did partition my Hdd to an active 300Gb as  noted by Semex and also did a fresh installation of windows. Same problems.

Any thoughts?

May not be the same thing but I did run into a computer a month or two ago that kept blue screening (they reinstalled windows and it kept happening) ran TDSSkiller and Norton power erase on it and it found a root kit (they didn't format just reinstalled windows over and over itself *was 3 windows.old .00X folders) can't remember what anti virus it was but I tried avast and it missed it so did MS, and for the most part the computer ran normal other than random blue screens.

Have you tried running 'sfc /scannow' and chkdsk yet?

EDIT: ah, I see you did a reinstall. Scratch that presumably.
