Darksoft
Hello, I'm looking for a tablet that would let me watch at least 3 movies without needing to be recharged. I'm looking to watch *.mkv files (720p and 1080p) without any stuttering, and 10-11" if possible. I travel sometimes and I need something portable that will let me entertain myself without worrying about the battery dying too quickly. I'm open to windows and android tablets. I'm looking to spend as little as possible as long as my only requirement is met.
Blaze_Zewi
The Google Nexus 7 32GB (2013) will have you cover. And with the $270 price tag, Its a good deal. As a Nexus 7 (2013) owner myself I can say this little tablet will play your 720p/1080p mkv and other video format. Just get MX Player from the Google Play store and you are good to go. Darrian
I'm pretty happy with my Nook HD+. Does 720P just fine, at any rate. If you want to test it you could put a movie on a SD card and take it in to a B&N store, they usually have nook displays for you to play around with. 9" screen, $180, HDMI adapter not included (I think that runs about $30). Darrian
In that case I'd recommend the new Surface, but it probably wouldn't work very well for MKVs until after they get VLC released.

I was checking out the ASUS transformer pad. What do you think?
Darrian
Looks pretty good. Can't vouch for battery life since I don't have one. Don't know if there are firmware updates to bring it up to Android 4.3, but you may not find that necessary, and if you do, there is probably a Cyanogenmod build available. Neztea
Sony Xperia Tablet Z. I own one and I absolutely love it. It's Got an alright battery life with a nice 10" display. Also is one of the lightest tablets which is also waterproof. I watched some Tv shows while in the bath and in the shower. It's quite amazing actually. Xerxes
EDIT: I completely forgot the Asus Transformer tablets with their battery keyboard dock!! plus the Surface 2 tablets also have one, should get great battery life from either of them. scorpian007
My Surface RT worked really well with MKV files with the mobile.HD media player app ($2 from the store).
vcfan
Is this crucial to wait for that one, instead of buying one available right now? I would definitely, its only about a week away. its rated for 11 hours of battery. compared to current cheap x86 tablets, this one is way faster too (2x cpu, 3x gpu). actually, theres a lot of these new win8 bay trail tablets coming out within the next week or two with that speed and battery life, ranging from $250 and up,depending on features(screen size, screen resolution,etc..)
