BoDEAN
Seeing how none of our games (from what I've read) will work on the Xbox One....I'm holding off on buying any games right now. First, has this been confirmed, there is no backwards compatibility with games and the systems? Also, do most of you plan on running 2 game consoles then, the Xbox One, and your Xbox 360 (with all your games you still play)?
Roger H. Veteran Posted October 16, 2013 Veteran Share Posted October 16, 2013 PowerPC vs X86 so yeah they wont work but odds are they could be recompiled? Dunno, just guessing there. There's talk of Gaikai type "streaming" for older games but yeah don't hold your breath. Then again your Xbox 360 wont stop working so old games will play just fine. That is, unless you are like some that sell the old system to buy the new one. As for me, I already told my significant other that she is buying me a Xbox One for Christmas next year, this year is a DSLR. LOL.
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted October 16, 2013 Veteran Share Posted October 16, 2013 Right now, there is no backwards compatibility, although there have been some rumors saying they may be able to do it through the Cloud. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. As far as running two consoles, my own situation is since I barely use my 360 right now, I plan on completely disconnecting it and just going all One. If there is somehow a release that requires the 360 to be used again, I will hook it back up. I have actually thought about even seeing if I can sell my 360, might do that as well. trooper11
I still have a couple of games to complete on the 360, so I'll be holding onto it. I'm not buying a new games for it though and I will move it out of the my main room once I have an X1. Same goes for my ps3, although I actually don't have any games left to complete on it. Ironman273
In my opinion the backwards compatibility is only good a the beginning of the console's life since you have a lot of older generation games. As the library of new generation games gets bigger I don't see much reason the play last gen games. I'll probably hang on to the 360 until the One's library gets fleshed out. jerzdawg
Ive considered holding onto mine to play GTA V, but since I havent even picked it up yet.. I might just sell it, going to sell my PS3 as well. That will leave me with my One, Wii U and Wii (for emulators only) and will eventually pick up the ps4
Mr.XXIV
If they get Gears of War 3 on the Xbox One, I'll definitely stay away from the Xbox 360.
Skiver Veteran Posted October 17, 2013 Veteran Share Posted October 17, 2013 I'm planning on trading in the 360 and PS3 as a way to help fund my xbox one. Already traded the PS3 games in and the only reason I am holding onto the console itself is for Blu-rays.
CPressland
Unless they re-release Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 on XBOX One - I have no reason to buy one. Lack of backwards compatibility is a deal breaker for me.
ramesees
Isn't there going to be support and games for the Xbox 360 until 2016 ? Holding onto one isn't going to be that much of a problem I would have thought. Thief000 1 Share

Same - three of the Games for Gold games were ones I (amazingly) never bought, so I've got those ahead of me after I finish borderlands 2. Makes not getting an Xbox One right away not so bad I guess. compl3x
I intend to hold onto all of mine. I have a backlog which needs attention.
Thief000
I'm selling my oldest white Xbox 360 (HDMI) with 120GB and about a dozen disc based game I now have on Games on Demand. I'm also selling the Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player that was under it. The other Xbox 360's I keep for backwards compatibility and an occasional LAN party. Ironman273
Keeping it for the Games for Gold titles, till my sub runs out at least If you get games during Games for Gold they stay with you even if you revert back to Silver. It's not like the Playstation. Thief000 1 Share
AlphaPrime
Yeah I know, what I mean is that once my Gold runs out early next year I probably won't renew it till I get an Xbox One sometime in the future. So when I'm done playing all the free games I'll most likely get rid of the console. Hopefully in the future they start offering the same deal for Xbox One titles
DConnell Member Posted October 20, 2013 Member Share Posted October 20, 2013 If the One has personal media streaming capabilities similar or better than the 360, I might get replace one of my two 360s, but keep the newer one for game compatibility. But then I still have 2 modded XBMC XBoxes that I use for any media the 360 can't handle, and for DVDs. (XBMC Xbox still kicks the posterior of the X360's video player in terms of formats it supports, as long as the video is SD) The 360 didn't replace the original Xbox for me, so why would I get rid of the 360 when I get an Xbox One?
