GameTrailers Bonus Round: Xbox One vs PS4

Recommended Posts

I love GT, my favorite of the larger resources. Thanks for posting.

If the X1 gains the dual power of a cable box, it will absolutely rule numbers. Sony should probably be working on that immediately.

I won't have either console in 2013, undecided after that. TitanFall looks like the only promising launch title to me.

I'll spend 95% of my gaming time playing PC BF4 and PoE through 2013. I'll end up with Destiny at launch, probably PC.

Does the WiiU still exist? I've seen more deer than Nintendo sightings this year.

God, these guys are awesome to listen to. They have their preferences here and there, but they don't let it drive their opinion of how things will play out, unlike the kids on the internet. They seem to be much more down to earth and realistic in it all.

As for the subsidizing thing, that could play out well for Microsoft, but Microsoft really needs to get on the ball to get that going. As it stands, cable media seems to be on more of a decline as people opt to get their content from other providers, be it Netflix, Hulu, etc. With that in mind, I can't imagine the cable companies not wanting to do this, as it could easily be beneficial to helping them recover their own losses. We'll have to see how things play out really.

I find it also a bit bothersome that a lot of the Xbox One offerings seems to have quite the potential, but that won't mean much at launch. Best we can hope for is Microsoft attempting to fill the gap by adding value. As a consumer/gamer, that's just a win win. As it stands, I'm thinking it just might be worth holding off on the XBO until we see it out on the market more.

Titanfall isn't a launch title, Q1 2014 I believe.

Wind Waker HD is apparently shifting some hardware units, and Super Mario 3D World seems to be generating new interest in the WiiU.

I'm sorta suprised that MS hasn't made any deals with any major cable/satellite provider (or at least announced any), where you buy a cable bundle, get free XB1. Sky and Xbox seem to be reasonably close, for instance.

Hmm. They sure do market it that way. Fooled me.

But yeah, I guess there are zero interesting launch titles... (Pretty normal really.)

PC, PC, PC!

Wait, well thought out anti flame discussion!?! No way!

Great videos, however there were a few factual inaccuracies that "Experts" really should know.

I don't see the appeal for Sky or any other cable/satellite provider. Why should they help Microsoft and subsidise the Xbox ?

They already have a mass produced box that comes with your subscription and streaming apps in some form are available on devices already like SkyGo etc. Cable/Satellite companies will want to remain in control and helping Microsoft and Sony sell a box cheaper is bizarre. It would be burning your money for no reason, they should haven't to do anything but provide the service and hooks. If they ever do a bundle deal, it won't be a bargain, just a package at a insane price. A discount would be on the hardware makers head, 100%. Microsoft or whoever is living in cloud cuckoo land if they think otherwise.

The IPTV route like the 360 tried is the only other option, Sony is trying it this time but again, up to the hardware maker, not the cable/satellite companies to sell the box and at a good price.

The reason you haven't heard anything is because it doesn't serve the interests of cable/satellite companies and would only eat into their profits.

Microsoft biggest mistake is going after cable boxes, traditional TV. They should have gone full steam ahead with streaming apps only, that is the future. Cut cable/satellite companies off at the knees. What is going to happen is another competitor is going to waltz in and do it right leaving Xbox One looking silly and pointless.

The thing i am wonder is patcher talks about how  Microsoft missed a oppertunity to do a Deal with  say Dishnetwork or Fios for a subdized  price and to provide the xbone  in to your home as the DVR and all that right. Well the issue being is the xbone only has a HDMI pass through so if it was dishnetwork how would ya get  your package you paying for  to your TV or Xbone  since it has no Coax connections   and  they still requier and i think Fios also still requier  Cox    to the box then HDMI out to the TV  so if they did do a deal  Dish or VZ Fios still need to provide you with a box along with the  Xbone
