Riggers
Only thing i can think of the moment is try wsreset.exe but that probably won`t work. There is a diagnostics for windows 8 which might be worth a try. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/20291-windows-store-apps-troubleshooter-fix-apps-windows-8-a.html

Sekyal
I had sound initially, then it went out for some apps and other apps froze. A reboot seems to have fixed most things, I think. Even now though apps just keep freezing up. That never happened before. I did an in place upgrade which should have gone off without a hitch as that is how they intended most to upgrade. static_geek
Well.....I can't refresh because I'm "missing files", can't reinstall win 8 because it was the upgrade from win 7.....none of my backups work.....anyone got a clue cuz I don't :/
Jose_49
You need to at least have a .iso image from Windows 8.1. Insert the disc you used to upgrade and/or have the .iso mounted using the Windows Mounting Tool (Built in in Windows 8+) and try again.

"Hi,Thanks for helping us verify your Microsoft account Here is your code: xxxxxxx If you didn't request this code, we recommend that you go to https://account.live.com and change your password. Thanks,The Microsoft account team" Try going to the modern screen and typing in "pc settings" and hit enter. It should be in there somewhere, probably under 'accounts' Sounds like you`re one of the few (that i heard about relative) that`s had a bad upgrade experience :( Any good luck, i hope you get it sorted. Also with regards the Store, you don`t have a third party Firewall installed do you?

Nope just Widows firewall .. it's odd I click on store the it pops up and pops out but when I drag and point to the left hand upper corner it's still there. If I click on it, it poofs again..still in the upper left hand corner
Jose_49
Wait. The best thing I'd encourage you to do is to grab a leaked copy from the web or from TechNet, and doing the refresh with it. PM me for more info.
Ezekiel Carsella
Be helpful if you tell us what type of machine it is? When I had that problem I have an AMD E-450 processor and I had to install some drivers. So... look for your laptop or desktop and get ALL the drivers. always helps. I had to reinstall ALL my apps when I used the .ISO image. AMD 13.9 WHQL drivers for graphics, Intel WiFi.. issues since Windows 8 released.. Intel hasn't fixed this yet. But I'm perplexed at you having to reinstall APPS when you updated through the APP store... :/ . Some have generally had a small issue here or there but NOT at your level.. But I was in the same boat as you from a clean install. but if it installed without a hitch.. you may have dodged a bullet. you'll just have to reinstall drivers for 8.1. thomastmc
This is why I only do clean installs :) Upgrades have a high potential for wasting your time and :hump: you.
