Windows 8.1 GA Updates - Available yet?

Recommended Posts

I've got a different question, I just upgraded from 8 to 8.1 through the store on my main desktop, also updated apps through the store.  But has anyone gone on to install GA Rollup A yet?

I already had Windows 8.1 from an ISO install on my home laptop and downloaded the GA updates this morning from Windows update.

On my Work machine that updated from 8.0 to 8.1 this morning as well, still "Checking for updates" after 20mins. :errm: So dunno if they are even available yet there.

I just checked as well but I only see some smaller individual updates and not one big one marked as GA.    There's 5 in total plus 1 recommended camera codec pack.

3 updates were made live at 12pm (GMT), KB2883200 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2883200) which is the largish 200MB GA update.  KB2884846 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2884846) and KB2895219 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2895219).  Win8.1 does feel slightly snapier, not sure if it's a placebo effect.

Yea I was just pulling up these, definitely feel snappier to me too as I updated my laptop this morning from 8.1 to 8.1GA.

I originally thought they'd just include the updates in this update. Would be kinda silly not to patch the 8.1 update at the source before releasing it.

I was expecting to see a revised GA build to download from my TechNet account after reading a few comments from around the web.  Guess that's unlikely to happen though as it would mean altering the base build which could cause issues?

At some point I want to do a fresh install but will probably leave it a few days to see what driver/software updates are released over the next week or so.

They've already refreshed the VL ISOs on MSDN/Technet, so perhaps they'll do non-VL Core/Pro too... hopefully.

I saw the VL ISO's etc, are they actually refreshed with the GA update?

Yes, they kept working on Windows 8.1 after RTM all the way to GA. That work was released as updates for Windows 8.1 today.

Which Im pretty sure those updates were available a week ago. So there was no point of waiting since the leaked still offered the same thing
