just got off the phone with MS Teir II Support, the tech said his shift was ending and he would call me back tommorow. ( lol i doubt ill get a call back ) ( personally i was wondering about the tech after he started blaming my Video Card for the cause of the issue, as well as saying my computer had a lot of shortcuts ( my documents, my pictures, my video, printhood and recent - legacy shortcuts MS has for compatability

but long story after installing Win 8.1 i have these on my All Program, i pinned to the Start screen to keep track of them for the MS Support so it would be easier for them to find.

now the recent versions of Photo's, Camera, People, and Bing work fine, and i am thinking these are the remaining older versions, Graffiti Radio is unique as it was unisntalled from the computer months ago and i do not have a Uninstall option when i right click

they do not show up in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp locations

i have even checked C:\Program Files\WindowsApps to see if anything named it was in there

the Live Tile for Microsoft.bing ( MS-Resource:App_Name ) and Graffiti Radio work, but the apps do not open, and Graffiti Radio does not exist in the App Store anymore ( prolly because it was bypassing Pandora's restrictions reserved for paying subscribers )

i am looking to remove them from the Start Screen

microsoft.windowslive.ModernPhotos

Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat

Microsoft.Camera

Microsoft.Bing

Graffiti Radio

The Colors of the first image correspond to the colors of the Pinned app ( except the Orange is Microsoft.Bing )

i have goggle searched but so far i have not found an Answer ( other then one dated from beginning of the year (for microsoft.windowslive.ModernPhotos ) that said something about Kasperty's infection quarantine which is not applicable )

i would just like them removed from the All Program List, they do not appear in any uninstaller that i have found and http://gallery.techn...e-Apps-a00ef4a4 does not work

the Tech and myself ran AppsDiagnostic.diagcab ( windows store troubleshooter  ) and apps.diagcab (  Store, Audio and BITS Troubleshooter ) both will not go past my video card drivers are out of date ( Nvidia 327.23 - GTX 580)

If you're feeling brave the app packages are located in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages". Be careful what you delete as it's easy to bork the Store doing this.

Hmm... I found these after you posted the reply with the UIDs in it:

http://support.micro....com/kb/2798317

http://www.vspbreda....o-apps-or-appx/

You might have a registry permission error, or you may be able to remove them using PowerShell.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(

the second link looks to be the same as http://gallery.techn...e-Apps-a00ef4a4

with using the Powershell Get-appx command that didnt work when i tried it earlier today but in all fairness the reason it failed is because it said scripts are not allowed on the system, and i have 0 experience with scripting or Powershell at all

the first link does not show me the options unless i manually add permissions to give me control inorder to set permissions that are already showing as set for All Application Packages ( i can view the permissions for the " All Application Packages "

Registry SAM subkey did not have the All Application Packages set, so i put it in, restarting ( No Change )

the apps are not showing in the Installed App List in Powershell, so the Powershell route didnt work

I too have almost exact this problem!

Thought it was a 8.1 Preview problem but still there after installing the final one.

Tried all that was suggested but no solution yet.

Really hope this thread will become the cue

Same problem...

The apps have the following names:

ms-resource:photo/residAppname
ms-resource:app_name
ms-resource:chatAppTile
ms-resource:manifestDisplayName
ms-resource:ShortProductName

Photos, Bing, Chat, Camera and Skydrive respectively

after trying various other routes ( registry editing and file finding and attempting to remove 8.1 like previous Updates through KB removals ), i decided it would just be quicker to shoot it in the head and bury it in the back yard with a reinstall.

Reinstall of what? All Win 8.1? Did you loose data?

Did you have Avast running by chance? Seems a common theme here: http://answers.micro...0f-b5b914acd797

yes i had Avast 2014 running and it more then likely was the cause of the problem ( i forgot i had it running, it was also running on my laptop but the 8.1 update uninstalled it beforehand as it was gone when 8.1 booted on the laptop ) unisntalling it after the fact didnt change it

yes a re install of Windows 8, then 8.1. i had the option to download 8.1 ISO Installer from MSWOS's site ( Microsoft Windows Order Summary Site ). but didnt know if it would have worked with my key.

i first created an image of my Main HDD on my backup HDD just in case, then i booted to the Win8 ISO and reformated / Installed. luckly its not as time consuming for me as everything i use anymore is downloadable. just needed to save stuff like Documents / Images/ Outlook PST's. so i lost absolutely no data, just used up less then 300GB of my 2TB Video Scratch drive

would have just needed to do the PST's if i had Skydrive Sync Enabled for all Documents ( i dont care for that option )

But not everybody has the option of doing what i did

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts

Let me know if it works and ill mark it solved

This removes icons from the Start screen, not Apps screen, so is s superficial fix that does nothing to fixing the actual corrupt apps.

I am too getting frustrated at this and too amazed MS are not doing anything about it!

Hi Guys, is this problem come with any solution? I get the permission to enter the WinApp folder and delete the related error/corrupter application, however, it still appear at the App Screen, I also follow the solution which mention earlier in this post, but i am not the lucky one.

Totally same issue as yzs encounter.
