I just upgraded windows 8 to 8.1.  Now most of my start screen tile icons are missing their icons and text.  Some tiles are completely blank.  Is there any way to get the icons and text back?  Icons and text were there prior to upgrading to 8.1.

I've tried this so far - no luck.

I've tried searching google/bing for a solution.

I've removed the tiles from start and tried re-adding them.

I've tried renaming the shortcuts and changing the icons for the linked apps.

I've tried changing the tile size.

I only had to submit my question to discover the solution only moments later.   I had FastPictureViewer codecs installed.  I uninstalled them and now the tiles work.  I did clear my icon cache previously, so I had to go in and resize all my tiles from one size and then back again, but now it is working.
