Boynton woman tried to hire cops to kill husband

A woman gave police officers two stolen credit cards and a loaded shotgun as down payment to kill her husband and another man, cops say.

Annybelkis Terrero, 38, knew she was dealing with cops when she asked for help finding someone to murder the two, Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said. The officers were not undercover ? they were wearing vests with "POLICE" stamped on the front and back.

Under investigation for alleged prostitution and drug use, Terrero had agreed to serve as an informant for the department's narcotics unit. She was leading two officers to a drug dealer's house Wednesday when she mentioned she hated her husband, wanted him dead and had a plan to get the job done, police said.

When the officers told her they knew someone who could do the deed, Terrero gave them the cards and told them to use them fast because they were "hot," according to police. The next day, she met with an undercover officer posing as a hitman, gave him the Remington shotgun and ammunition and promised $30,000 from her husband's life insurance policy once he was dead.

"I have nothing to say," said 57-year-old Neil Logan, who works as an aircraft mechanic in Palm Beach County.

The couple's brief marriage has been tumultuous, according to court records and Logan's lawyer, Jose Diaz. Logan filed for divorce from Terrero on Aug. 21, court records show.

After developing a "winter-summer romance," the couple had gotten married in a "spur of the moment" ceremony while vacationing in Las Vegas, the Boca Raton attorney said.

The honeymoon phase was short-lived. After the wedding, Terrero often invited strangers over to the couple's home and disappeared for days at a time, and Logan learned of her drug and alcohol abuse, according to court documents Diaz filed.

Neighbors called police to complain about unusual traffic at the house and to report their suspicions that prostitution and drug activity were to blame, according to police.

Logan realized he made a mistake, Diaz said.

On Aug. 31, Terrero was served with divorce papers, court records show. The next day, she called police to accuse Logan of domestic violence. He was arrested after she said he grabbed a key chain from her, hurting her hand, and kicked her in the legs, according to a police report.

Although he denies those allegations and hired Diaz to represent him in the case, Logan was barred from returning to his house or contacting Terrero, who also sought a protective order against him. In her petition, she wrote that he was verbally abusive and threatened to kill her ? claims Diaz said are untrue. In a motion to rescind the no contact order, the attorney wrote that Terrero was "unstable and abusing drugs and alcohol."

The court found there wasn't enough evidence to grant Terrero's request for a protective order and dismissed it.

Diaz said Terrero's alleged murder-for-hire scheme could be another effort to sabotage him for trying to divorce her.

"She reacted violently and angrily and I guess decided to do whatever she could to destroy him, even if it came to taking his life," he said. "It's just horrible."

The plot blindsided and frightened Logan, who is grateful no one was hurt, Diaz said.

It's not clear why Terrero allegedly targeted the second man, 57-year-old William Straub, of Lake Worth.

Terrero is now facing two counts of solicitation of murder and two counts of bribery. Late Friday, she remained in the Palm Beach County Jail, where she's being held without bail.

No he won't because she'll be in jail for the 10 - 15 years... And I think your wife trying to get you killed, will definitely be grounds for divorce as well.
