BSOD's after windows update 8.0 to 8.1 on my desktop [DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION]

Recommended Posts

Im getting the bsod's on my desktop PC... The update itself went fine, but now I get the BSOD's: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

So im guessing a driver related problem:

>At startup: Samsung Magician fails at startup, I reinstalled it, after reinstall it still gives the error messages but after the message it does open, and my SSD's firmware are up-to-date (got two, 1 for the OS, 1 for games).

>I cannot open Catalyst Control Center anymore, it gives this error:

I tried updating AMD drivers. But can't find non listed on the website of AMD for my HD6900 card:

> Im currenlty on the internet via my phone (xperia S) while tethering via USB. This is a temporaly solution until I get a wire from the neighbours which I share internet with, but this has to go via landlord. Iv been tethering last week also on windows 8 with no problems.

Here are some screens of BSOD, and after restart:

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Appears this is a firmware related issue. I did a quick search and got this http://pc.net/helpcenter/answers/windows_8_dpc_watchdog_violation

Several things can cause a DPC Watchdog Violation to be triggered in Windows 8. One of the most common is an SSD drive that has old firmware not supported by Windows 8. Another likely cause is an outdated driver for one of your hardware components. For example, if your sound card driver does not support Windows 8, simply plugging in a set of headphones could produce a DPC Watchdog Violation error. While not as common, software installations that affect your system software could also lead to DPC Watchdog Violations and the corresponding blue screen of death.

yeah.. I got that too. But as I said,

> ssd firmware is up-to-date (despite samsung magician not working as it should).

> when I search for amd video drivers for my hd6900 card, for win8.1 x64, amd sends me to a page were there is nothing to download..

> got no audio-drivers, just using windows defaults..

So anyway, just 5 minutes ago I got another BSOD so Ill think I will downgrade (or however you see it) it back to windows 8..

I updated the AMD drivers, but it only got worse. It started freezing and non-responding apps and ****.. So I created a bootable USB windows8 on my laptop and reinstalled my PC

@ Hum really fun yeah  :pinch:
