Hi guys. It seems there's issue after issue with my opensuse installation... This time it's Steam (I had a password issue in another thread, fixed now). I installed the app without issues, at first run it updated itself then showed the login screen. After that I got the Steam Guard, asking for the code from the email they sent. Typed that, "Success", then nothing. The Steam tray icon was there, right clicking on it opens the menu, but no matter what I choose from that menu, nothing opens. So I clicked on Exit and tried to run Steam again. To my surprise, Steam Guard popped-up again! New mail, new code, but after typing it it stays a while on "Steam - Working....", then "Sorry, this isn't quite right". And that's it, I can go back to the login screen or exit. Logging in again mean ANOTHER email with another code, but the result is the same..

What's going on?! Anyone here with the same issue? :(

There's no point when it becomes unusable, I just can't get pass the damn Steam Guard, it throws that error, even if the code is correct. Launching Steam from terminal doesn't write anything to that txt file, it just creates it, but it's empty. Here's what's on terminal:

All working ok from Mint 15 at the moment. Can you logon via a web browser on the same OS?

Do you get any error messages if you start steam from a terminal window?

Try the following:
  • Open a terminal window
  • Enter "Steam 2> ~/steamoutput.txt" (without the quotes)
  • When you reach a point that Steam either crashes or stops being usable, exit the application.
  • Open the steamoutput.txt in your user folder file and take a look and see if there are any error messages
  • If you're unsure, try attaching your file to a reply to this thread and I'm sure I or someone else will take a look for you and see if there's anything obviously wrong.

Solved it by installing Steam with Wine (there the damn Steam Guard works), going to Settings and disabling that option. :)
