Shadrack Posted October 22, 2013 Share Posted October 22, 2013 Everything is a bit snappier as are most if the transitions. Rotation in apps has much improved framerates. Oddly, any transition that involves the home screen is jumpy (poor framerate). Rotating the home screen, for example, still "lags", as does bringing up the multitasking from the home screen. Setting the wallpaper still lags. They maybe shaved off a second or two. They added a "working" indicator so it doesn't feel like the system has locked up. Once inside an app, everything is fine... like scrolling and such in Safari isn't anymore laggy in iOS 7 than it was in iOS 6. Ever since installing iOS7 on it it's been pretty slow, notably Chrome for iOS, since installing iOS7 it crashes all the time, I'm lucky if I can have two tabs open before it pops! Of course, this update (6 > 7, approx. 2.3GB) requires more free space than previously (5 > 6, approx. 1.3GB) im guessing if i updated my ipad2 i would be SOL There's nothing to get SOL'd about... it's just not worth the upgrade. The multitasking UI is nicer, as are the background update... but people have been complaining about multitasking (the function of multitasking) on iOS 7. I read one post where a user was complaining that they were typing up something in Chrome, switched to the Mail app briefly to copy-paste something for the post they were working on, returned to Chrome and chrome had to reload the page because it had already been pushed out of memory by the OS. They had lost their entire post. The poster said something about that never happening in iOS 6. I suspect that iOS 7 as a whole uses up more memory. The iPad 3 has a relatively low amount of GPU power for the number of pixels it has to render. The iPad 2 doesn't, it has the same resolution and GPU as the iPad Mini which is still being sold today.
