compl3x
The Android-based Ouya micro-console will soon be making its way to all Target stores this month. Beginning later this month the console will make its way to the U.S. retailer with a major promotional deal and with some stores offering kiosks so consumers can try the system out. The Ouya launched at several major retailers this year including GameStop, Best Buy, and Target, but only in select store locations. Target will be the first retail chain to sell the Ouya in all its 1,800 locations. After the system is rolled out, Ouya and Target will work together on promotional vehicles such as in-store ads and a gift card bundled with the purchase of the system. At the beginning of next year Target will offer Ouya demo kiosks in some stores. The Ouya will also be launching in parts of Europe and the Middle East at the end of October. CEO Julie Uhrman said that she is currently in talks with Wal-Mart and hoping to announce some sort of partnership with the retailer "soon." DirtyLarry Veteran Posted October 25, 2013 Veteran Share Posted October 25, 2013 I was super excited once the official OUYA version of XBMC was finally released. My excitement very quickly faded once I realized, as of right now, the OUYA does not support DTS audio. All I was getting was incredibly loud static every-time I tried using it. This was almost a month ago now, and as soon as I googled it, I found many other people who were very disappointed by this fact as well. It plays regular audio just fine, but I prefer to use DTS for the obvious reasons. There was talk on a few forums that there may be some workarounds and/or there may be a system update eventually to support it, however that pretty much put a hault on the plans I had at making my OUYA my dedicated streaming device. I had planned on doing that since it is still not known if the One or PS4 will continue to support DLNA/mkv playback, so it looks like for the foreseeable future I may also be keeping my PS3 hooked up as well (probably was going to do it regardless, but was considering not hooking it up), so my entertainment center is going to be quite crowded indeed. There have been a few surprise games on the OUYA itself, but nothing that has made it a must own device just yet IMHO. I do need to play around with emulation still, that very well could push it over the top. Right now however, it is just a nice device in my arsenal, not a great one. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted October 27, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted October 27, 2013 I'm pretty sure they're already working on the OUYA 2. I wonder what that would mean for this one? It's barely out the front door!
NightScreams
Looks like one of those kiddie game plug n play systems minus the bright color scheme.
