Norton Identity Safe Replacement

Question

Hello,

I have to nix Norton 360 for a multitude of reasons and I have found I rely highly on Norton Identity safe and the browser plugin. I know about LastPass but it seems even they say it's tedious to convert NIS data to LastPass, although I am not against trying. Are there any other good alternatives to this? Just basically need to get a handle of all my logins/password and anything like NIS would be great.

Thanks for any opinions!

I am pretty certain that identity safe is a standalone installer that can be used without N360, etc.  You can install a different AV solution but still take advantage of the identity app.  The vault will remember all your passwords, no matter which machine you install it on.  I love the feature and use it all the time.

hmm, now that you say that I remember un/re-installing Norton 360 once and I think it asked me if I wanted to keep NIS free. I will check that out. Thanks!

Hello,

I am Vineeth and I am from the Norton Support team.

Sorry to hear that you have stopped using Norton 360. Was there any reason why you do not want to use Norton 360?

If you wish to use the Identity Safe feature, we have a standalone version of Identity Safe available: https://identitysafe.norton.com/. You can login using your Norton account username and password, so you can find the existing vault.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you need further help!

Thanks!

Vineeth

Who says its tedious to import?  Seems to me simple export to csv and then import.. Should take all of what a couple of seconds?

I don't have any exp with NIS, but I do like lastpass..

Yeah, sorry BudMan you are absolutely correct. In fact I found it ridiculously easy to import identities from Norton. The funny thing is, when I first tried it back in the days of Yor I seem to remember pulling my hair out in frustration. All that aside if/when I switch away from Norton I will use LastPass for sure.

Cheers,

So does it have multifactor auth? Does it allow more than 1 identity? Does it allow you to create notes on your sites info? From a quick look at the features, doesn't seem to even come close to lastpass feature set to be honest.

Seems it installs some crap toolbar - can you decline that, what if I don't want it checking the websites I go to - that safe search stuff. Just never really been a fan of norton stuff since it got sold off to symantec what early 90's Now the disk doctor for dos use to be great ;)

True. And so was Ghost (until version 9). Crapville all the way after that. :)

For those who are like me who do not want their password data floating in the cloud, I'll suggest you take a look at Sticky Password. They offer both a stand-alone and a cloud-enabled version.

As for Symantec, they are the Electronic Arts of utility software. :)
