At least for (technically 3 since my router has to be connected to it). No wifi. Cheapest and works good :) Id get a Linksys but ever since they were bought by another company I dont know if they are realiable. Thank you. Asus, D-Link, and TrendNet are all cheaper switches I've used and no problems with any of them. I don't know where a good place to buy in Spain would be. Innuendo Posted October 26, 2013 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Don't discount the deals you may find on eBay. A year or two ago I needed a new switch & on a whim checked eBay. I ended up finding a gently used D-Link DGS-1224T Rev. C 24-port smart switch (retailed for $250-300) for $60. Some company was upgrading the switches on their network and didn't need it anymore. Been very happy with netgear desktop swtiches. Well like I mentioned I can get a NETGEAR ProSafe GS105 for 28 ? but the one you mentioned NETGEAR ProSafe GS108Tv2 is at 34 ?. I also own 3x Netgear GS608's, which is the same thing just with 8x ports. Each of them connect to my router and go off to different rooms in the house, good reliable switches that are perfect for a home network. Seems like we will soon start needing 10Gbps switches though, I've run into the upper limit of 1Gbps a few times copying files from my NAS which can do 400MB/s READ speeds, writes are slower but still more than 1Gbps (150-200MB/s). I like to read opinions on Neowin then order the next day but man did Imiss a good offer :( The GS108Tv2 and GS108T are only revisions right? You missed one feature it has that can come in real handy Port mirroring This allows you to sniff traffic if need be - for example you can mirror the port connected to your router - and via something connected to that mirror you can view all the traffic in and out of your network with a protocol analyzer - say wireshark, or use something like ntop to monitor and report on types of traffic flowing in and out of your network. For the small difference in price - yes I would go with that E model, even if you don't have any current plans of using those features.
