Windows 8 Solid Color on titlebar, strange issue.

24 posts in this topic

Hi,

I have installed windows 8.1 and some themes for it and this happens to all of them (at least the ones i used)

Behind the fonts in Title Bar appears a solid color, as image link shows : http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2j0f529&s=5#.UmumRhBvRFc

Does anyone knows what this is? and a fix for it, plz ?
Been searching google and nothing about this that i can find.

Thank you
Bye

There is no fix for this. It is a problem with Windows 8.1. You have 2 options to solve this issue for now:

1. You use the default theme.

2. Apply the same color of the window to your window's color scheme settings. Example: https://hostr.co/file/gBbcRIWKyxBt/choosethiscolor.png

This is one thing Microsoft has neglected to fix yet, you will have to use lighter colors on the windows borders.

It's hardly MS job to make sure that unsupported third party themes work properly.

It's not a theme issue, it's a programming issue with the way they display text on the title bar, even the default theme can't do it right...change your window border to solid black and does your text change or is there even a way to change the text to white? NO!!! It's not a theme issue, it's an issue with Microsoft not putting in a way to change the title bar text color or I should say not giving a ****...  Very sloppy Microsoft - as usual...

I don't use third party themes and the title color is in fact not visible when you change the color to black. Microsoft does need to address this issue. If you look very very closely you can see the title slightly, but you really cant see it. Microsoft should have fixed this problem in Windows 8.1 but they didn't.

You do realize the issue you're talking about is not what the OP is taking about? did you even look at the picture in his post ?

There are issues with how things work in DWM - especially with the title bar text, it's still on topic.

Microsoft doesn't want people using emo goth color themes. Stick to something vibrant and you'll be good.

This is not the same issue. The text in his screenshot get a background color, that souldn't happen, and is an issue with the theme.

Hi,

I have found that if the theme supports color window (titlebar coloring) i can remove that solid color matching it with the window titlebar, so the solid color that appear behind the fonts its the windows colors in the personalize -> colors.

So any ideia whats going on here ?

Thks

This is not the bug but the intention of rendering engine. Frame titles are not rendered with alpha transparency but with solid background to increase the performance.

You can try to eyeball the color, which is pretty hard or you can create a theme file, edit the color (it's in hex, so you can use a color picker to help you find the color you need), and apply that theme.

Edit: you can edit the theme file by opening it in notepad or some other text editor.
