What was your first tablet?

Hello,

It was only natural to make this thread :)

As a special request, original picture of YOUR tablet would be nice. We can all use Google to look up pictures of the Nexus 7 but there is only one copy of YOUR tablet which is in your hands :)

I have bought one yet as I currently see little to gain from a tablet.

Blackberry Playbook.   Bought for the low price and the promise of android support.  Currently only use for web browsing when my pc is in use.  Which is rare.

Hello,

Google Nexus 7 (2012). Replaced by the 2013 model in late August.

Sorry :p You had a good idea with the first smartphone and thought might as well make the tablet version of the thread as well...

Hello,

The first tablet input I used would have been the Koala Pad on the Apple II and Commodore 64 in the mid 1980s

The first tablet PDA I owned was a Casio Zoomer that ran GEOS.  I had it around 1993-1994.  It was replaced with a Palm Pilot when those come out in the mid-1990s.

The first tablet computer I owned would have been a Fujitsu tablet with an AMD 80386-40 CPU that run Windows for Pen Computing 3.1 with a monochrome display.  This was also around the mid-1990s.

Regards,

I had a Acer Iconia A500 tablet, I loved it and especially the android apps. The Acer Iconia A500 was a solidly built tablet and had pretty good performance. It fell short however for being useful for working so I sold it sadly and bought a Asus Vivo Tab RT which is an amazing tablet.

Coby Kyros MID7024.  Runs Android 2.2.x, I think.  Garbage.

32GB BlackBerry Playbook.  Garbage.

Acer Iconia Tab A110.  Runs some version of Android 4.x.  Better than 2.2, but still garbage.

I've dicked around with some third-party firmware like Cyanogenmod and others.  Hardly makes anything better.

64GB Surface RT.  When compared with the other 3, it's more expensive, but it's obvious that you get what you pay for.  I use it daily, whereas the other three are collecting dust.

OG Kindle Fire replaced with a 2013 Nexus 7

The KF is still kicking it, put Cyanogen on it and it's the main Chromecast device for everyone else in the house

Original Kindle Fire running Gingerbread. I rooted it added FireFireFire / Kindle Fire Utility and put many different ROMs on it. Most recently 4.1 JB Cyanogen Mod. The issue is it won't accept any new 4.2 or above builds and the power connector is dislodged so it barely charges. Got myself a Surface RT though. :D

Apad 7"

Didn't care too much for it, the touch screen wasn't capacitive, was very slow and didn't respond well.  It was a cheap Chinese language knockoff of a what a tablet should be.  Bought it used for $100 on Craigslist, dumped it a week later for $25 less and used that as a $25 trial of a baaad tablet.

Pic is too large to embed from Amazon but here is your link to see it.

Now, I have a HP Slate 7 and am quite happy with it. :)

The first generation Samsung Q1.  Still works, although it rarely gets used anymore.  Old, slow, horrible touchscreen, stuck with XP, heavy as a brick.  Replaced it with some generic POS Android that's forever stuck on 1.5... not much better.  My first few choices weren't that good.
