DriveClub running at 30fps @ 1080p

Recommended Posts

At this stage the game is running at 1080p@30fps, which at face value really defies how fluid it feels and how stunning it looks. We?ll be recording another direct feed video for you soon, to show you an update on the outstanding 1080p graphics and racing, because the authentic and dynamic lighting system has come a long way since you saw it last.

i really don't get the whole demanding 1080p over 720p thing.

I mean personally I'd prefer the extra fluidity of 60fps over having a more "crisp" image at 1080p (which isn't even that noticeable a difference from 720p if you're sitting the proper distance from your tv) and if dropping the resolution down to 720p is what it takes in the beginning of the generation to keep the games at 60fps then i'm fine with that

I think most racing game fans would rather have 720 at 60 than 1080 at 30 actually.

You are probably right.. but there will 100% for sure.. be people who want the 1080 with 30FPS.   Hell.. the n64 ran at 30FPS and I didn't think anything of it.

Given the choice 720p60 would be better than 1080p30 though these days its inexcusable that either of these consoles cant to both easily.

and as i keep saying. this generation is just starting. give it a couple years and I bet all new games with be doing 1080p60 easily on both consoles

I'll get both thank you. If next gen hardwares can't achive 1080p on a regular basis then it's not anymore next gen than the Wii U and not worthy of my money.

I don't get people who are happy with 720p in 2013.

So I ask the question I keep asking and none of the resolution complainers will answer

would Quake 1 be next gen when rendered at 1080p or even 4k ? no ?

Some would consider it so, yes.  Personally I am 100% fine with 720P.. I don't mind grainy pictures, or stretched textures.. but to some people they would rather look at a game than play it... so to them Resolution is everything.

Racing games and FPS's greatly benefit from higher frame rates for accurate control schemes and reaction times. If they want it to be a good racing game they will need to up the frame rate, if they just want a graphics tech demo then 30fps is fine haha

Gran Turismo 5 runs at 1080p at 60fps and slightly less, which is an amazing feat on the ps3 which is a 7 year old piece of hardware. I am very confused to why both the PS4 and the Xbox one are releasing games that aren't at 1080p at 60fps. Both consoles are obviously more than capable of outputting at that resolution and frames per second.

1080p 30fps is more than acceptable for launch with this calibre of a driving game. To expect 60fps and 1080 at launch is ridiculous. Why are people's expectations so high?

Gran turismo 5 does play in 1080p because I own and play gran turismo. It may not be exactly at 60fps but the frame rate is very smooth

No it doesn't.

GT5 is in 1080 vertical lines. its however half the horizontal res, so no, it's not 1920x1080, and thus not 1080p.  it's upscaled to 1080 though. with the blurryness that a doubling of the horizontal res brings.

I think it's more about expectations and disappointment. PCs have been running 1080p for so long. Now that a NEXT-GEN console arrives people probably expected it to run at that resolution.

I am a PC gamer but I would pick frame-rate over resolution any day. What's the point of it being beautiful if it's not even playable/enjoyable.

It may play at it, but what he's saying is it doesn't render natively at it.

there's a very easy to grasp reason

both the 360 and PS3 are being programmed bare metal at this point where the One and PS4 are being programmed with the new API still.

it'll be awhile before devs are ready to program bare metal on the One and PS4 (but when they do start, expect phenomenal results :))

Regardless whether gt5 is true 1080p  which is really doesn't matter. I  find it enormously unacceptable for the next gen PS4 and Xbox one not to have games running at 1080p and at 60fps.

Because in this day and age it shouldve been a no brainer. There's nothing "high" about expecting 1080p60.

and once again. give it some time. it'll be happening before you realize it

you can't expect everything all at once

the PS3 & 360 didn't even start with true 720p but look how far they came. it'll happen on this gen as well you just have to be patient (i know that's such a hard concept in this day and age /s)

I think people's expectations are high because it is new hardware that should be able to do 1080p at 60fps really easily.  My (almost) 5-year old graphics card can do that.

I 100% agree, given the amount of power both the PS4 and the Xbox one have, there is absolutely no reason why they can't run at 1080p at 60fps.

They didnt finish there either.

I dont have to be patient, I've been gaming at 1080p+ 60fps for half a decade already.
