Like I said, maybe I'm just na?ve, I'm just not at the point where I think we should be worried, yet.

Unfortunately too many people have the same attitude - and my question to you is the same as it is to them.

At what point do you think you / we should be worried ? If its at the point of a gun or forced curfews or similar measures, then its too late.

The microphones in question are not accurate enough to pick anything up other than back ground noise, recording a conversation on such a device would need a directional parabolic reflector and some high end electronics. These are just cheap omni directional devices that pick up high pitch sounds and the software categorizes its threat level.

Interesting point, but what happens in movies like V for Vendetta don't always happen in real life, if anything, movies like Day after Tomorrow, or 2012 prove that point. We're Still here, I do understand your point but rallying against such measures could be considered an act of terrorism in their warped understandings also, I don't have the perfect solution and it is a situation beyond my control, worrying about it would solve nothing, rallying against it could escalate into riots, Bradford reminds me of such an incident, plus there's always an 'escape clause' built into these policies, otherwise the government would get crucified by it's people, so things like this may never get off the ground, and if it did, there's a chance it doesn't get any momentum.

Don't believe the propaganda that the governments are kept in check by the population who have "voted" to put them there. No matter which side of the House a party sits on it makes no difference. Conservative, Labour, Lib Dems, blue, red, yellow, green, it doesn't matter they all have their role to play and its theatre for the masses giving us the illusion of democracy and freedoms.

What are the public going to do against a government who have the military on hand to quell any disruptions and riots or challenges ? It wouldn't take much to push through legislation to have army on the streets enforcing curfews and whatever, and given the right situation (engineered or not) you would have members of the public calling for it as well - thus the government can then say "look we are listening to what the people want - they want armed personnel on the streets, they want curfews, they want to feel safe" etc... and the outcome which was planned for and prepared for comes to fruition.

I'm sorry.

What are they going to do? Execute the population of the country?

Even those said soldiers have the ability to make a 'judgement call' and I'm pretty sure no soldier will open fire on an unarmed civilian or member of their family because they were ordered to, and continued escalation following that exact model would lead to there being no government left as there'd be no 'people' left

England stood as the last line of defence in the 1940's if history proves anything, it's that the people as different as we all are, are not going to lie down and take it, I just don't think there's anything to worry about.

But hey if you're right and I'm wrong, I'll be the first to stand up and say so.

all this terrorism excuses are so annoying. Read bible and you will know exactly whats happening. And no im not being sarcastic.

The bible has nothing to do with this and you don't need to read it to make sense of any of this.

but if you read bible you will know what everything is coming. Im not saying this is directly relative to the bible, but it clearly states everything that the world will come too and what will happen.

Bible thumpers have a damn impressive record of predicting the apocalypse. They have failed EVERY SINGLE TIME. That is consistent, if anything.

If you want to use a book of fiction to predict the future, use 1984. A lot more plausible and a better story than the bible.

Its a similar system to that used in the US of A and is over there at least, used to pinpoint small arms fire so I understand.

Unless I'm unaware, We have no such system like that in the USA. :p

Just heard on the radio the BBC reported that China with all its citizen over watch has released a story of attempted terrorism on its streets, so despite all that censorship it doesn't stop acts of terrorism. It involved a husband, wife and mother in law breaking through a security barrier and running over a large crowd injuring many and killing two.Chinese news reported there were petrol and gas containers aboard the vehicle when it crashed and burst in to flames, five others were also under arrest,

That is not the purpose of such systems! These measures are put in place primarily and solely for the purposes of spying on citizens of a country - no matter which country that happens to be.

Governments chief motivations are paranoia and psychopathy - they will do whatever it takes to hold onto power and control and the best way to ensure this is to put systems in place that lock down what the population do, where they go, what they say, etc... Look for example at the rise in laws which govern what you can and cant say and how everything is being labelled hate speech or incitement to something or other, and the rise in utterly over the top political correctness.

Just because its the UK doing it or China or North Korea or the United States or Australia or <insert "good" country here> doesn't mean jack all. The propaganda over the past 50 - 100 years of "oh we live in the West, we're a democracy, we're free we're a good nation" vs "they are evil, and fascist and don't have democracy and aren't free" is just pure nonsense when supposedly "good" countries start doing the very things they decry in other countries.

As the saying goes:

By their fruits shall you know them

There is nothing in the bible that hasn't been said a thousand times before or after. Anyone can make a prediction and over a long enough time period, some of those just odds wise are bound to come true. But please, what bible prediction deals directly to this current topic of surveillance?

I don't think it deals with this surveillance, but the general direction society is going.

Revelation 13:16-17

16And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.?

If you can't buy or sell without government permission, then it stands to reason that they will tell you what you can and can not buy or sell. They will be an very authoritarian society that tightly controls their citizens, and that also means they will be ever watchful that their citizens do not get out of line. All of this parallels what we are seeing beginning around us today.

I know people like to compare the gov to the devil but really that verse have nothing to even remotely relating to this topic nor the direction of society. Many rules and regulations that we have today have been brought upon society by society. The gov saying we can't buy overly polluting vehicles, toxic foods, tanks with anti aircraft weapons, ect is a bit of a jump to "this was a prediction in the bible of the end of times" mentality.
