Woman's forgotten lottery ticket is $100G winner

Recommended Posts

A Virginia woman who bought a lottery ticket six months ago and tossed it in a box, forgetting about it, discovered that it was a $100,000 winner Tuesday and cashed it in hours before it expired.

Karen Gentry, a carpet saleswoman from Alexandria, said she checked the Cash 5 ticket again after seeing a television news report that the winner had still not come forward.

The winning numbers matched her ticket.

"I called my husband and he said, 'Yeah, right,? Gentry said in a press release. ?I always check the numbers, so I?m amazed I missed it."

Gentry arrived at the lottery?s Northern Virginia Customer Service Center in Woodbridge at 1 p.m. to claim her prize, four hours before the ticket would have met its 180-day expiration date.

She has no immediate plans on what she will do with the money.

She sure is lucky. If it had been me I would have discovered I was the winner about 5 minutes pass the time that I could claim my prize.

I'm sure her hubby will think of a few things.

Recently, someone down here didn?t claim a near US$ 10.000.000,00 (yep, that?s ten million...) prize, he or she had 90 days but never showed up...
