The_Decryptor Veteran Posted November 5, 2013 Veteran Share Posted November 5, 2013 So according to the tracking number Google gave me, mine is currently sitting in a FedEx centre in Hong Kong. That was a quick 2-3 weeks.
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted November 5, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted November 5, 2013 Some more impressions: The soft touch back makes it much nicer to hold in your hand than the Nexus 4. Build quality seems adaequate. It's plastic, yeah, but doesn't feel as cheap as the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 plastic. The screen is spectacular. Android 4.4 is really, really smooth. Everything feels much snappier than on Jelly Bean - ok, the fairly beefy CPU in the N5 helps. Overall an excellent phone for a really cheap price. Depicus
Got it .... :) So far really good, one small bug on signup where the show password box was just off view but otherwise like so far. One thing I cannot work out yet is how to add more than two screens !!!! (n00b) - found it, just drag a widget to the empty space.
acido00
I would like one but it needs to be send to Mexico... any ideas or suggestions how to get it without wait? thanks
Roger H. Veteran Posted November 5, 2013 Veteran Share Posted November 5, 2013 There are some delivery services that can do it for you. They obviously charge but you order and ship it to them then they ship it to you via UPS or FedEx or whatever works down that way :)
tsupersonic
Finally got mine and set it up. Its very light and feels noticeably cheap (coming from an HTC One). It is fast as hell, just like the One. The haptic feedback makes a really annoying sound. I forgot how much I miss stock Android. I'm turning my One into a GPE. +jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted November 6, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted November 6, 2013 I picked up my Nexus 5, it came with a free Nexus 7 tablet as well. Go me! The phone is noticeably lighter than my older Galaxy Nexus (i.e. Nexus 3) but the display is much brighter and more vivd. In fact it's a lot more vivid than the Nexus 7 display. No gripes so far. :) On a side note: This is my first 4G phone. I didn't realise just how quick 4G was. It downloaded it's initial 140MB update in a couple of seconds. I turned my head for a moment and when I turned back to check it it was installing it. Depicus 1 Share
Depicus
Is it just me or is video recording just plain awful, indeed it looks like a christmas cracker video recorder it's so wobbly. I don't plan on using the video much so not a huge issue for me but god it is bad.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted November 10, 2013 Veteran Share Posted November 10, 2013 I got mine a couple of days ago, I love the screen, but I'm not a fan of how large it is. Still, it's a pretty good device
tsupersonic
I got mine a couple of days ago, I love the screen, but I'm not a fan of how large it is. Still, it's a pretty good device It's not bad - similar size to HTC One, with a slightly larger screen to tow. My only gripe with the N5 is the speaker. The HTC One absolutely spoils you, and the N5 speaker just sounds terrible. Stereo speakers (on the front of the phone) should be standard on smartphones! I also don't like how light this device is - it really feels like a toy after using the HTC One. But, I'm loving Kitkat.
Dinggus
I'm so tempted to buy the white one! Is the Nexus 5 an upgrade from the iPhone 4S? I've had 3 Android experiences. 1) HTC Aria, I believe it had Froyo on it and it sucked. 2) LG Revolution, it was my brothers phone and I had to use it while he was in the hospital, terrible battery life about 4hrs when using. 3) Note 1, I couldn't find a cheap Note 2 to try out, so I got this and it was to big, the battery life sucked, and I seemed to not enjoy Android much due to not having the same apps nor did I want to buy apps which I could get on iOS for free. Also, coming from the iPhone it was a PITA to transfer contacts over. Also, using OSX with Android wasn't to easy either.

It would be an upgrade from the 4s and Android has come a long way since Froyo. N5 gets great battery life and has had a lot of great reviews. If looking in to the N5, I would check this out.... http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/4/5062724/google-nexus-5-review

When were folders implemented in Android? I don't remember them when using the Note. I bought my mom the Nexus 7 today and was setting it up for her before I mailed it to her and noticed it. There used to be an option to long hold on the home screen and then you can select folder on the popup window. They changed it in ICS I believe. Dragging and dropping an icon on top of another creates the folder now.

I figured I'll use Dropbox to sync all my devices.
