kompact
Been out of the computer game for a few years now. System is about 4 years old and has a traditional HDD in it. It is starting to make a lot of noise and I think it may soon fail. I am looking at SSD in roughly the $100 price range. I have no idea what's what so am hoping you guys can help out. Choices are: Kingston SH103S3/120Ghttp://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2416662&Sku=K24-2107 Kingston V300http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7455477&csid=_61 OCZ Vertex 450http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8209152&Sku=O261-5318 All three are the same size and have roughly the same specs, thanks for the help. LaP
I don't know if the V300 is good buy here's a better price for it. http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=78078&vpn=SV300S37A%2F120G&manufacture=Kingston&promoid=1089 Even better price : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820721107 Don't know if those two are good too but for a few more bucks you can get a 256GB one (shipping is free for both) 128GB : http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=70079&vpn=ASX900S3-128GM-C&manufacture=AData%20Technology&promoid=1089 256GB : http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=70080&vpn=ASX900S3-256GM-C&manufacture=AData%20Technology&promoid=1089 Other good deals http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=88496&vpn=SSDSC2BW180A401&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1089 http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=80209&vpn=SV300S37A%2F240G&manufacture=Kingston&promoid=1089 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226237 Note that i don't know any of those SSDs. They might be good or bad. I just think the price of those you listed looks like high. I bought my 120GB Vertex 3 for not much more something like 2 years ago i think. Any SSD will be far better than any HDD. The only question is will it be reliable.
tomasse
i would go for this: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NB8WR0/ Plus, all the prices of the SSD's you mention, are much lower in amazon. Check it yourself. Oops sorry, i just noticed its canadian dollar, but nonetheless, i prefer the Samsung. I've used it in 2 systems and it rocks. So maybe this then, if it's a money issue: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=87760 Edited November 1, 2013 by tomasse

FriendlyBully
I had an Agility II totally die after 2 years. I have had a Kingston work flawlessly for 4 years, at the cost of some performance. Make sure you read the reviews for reliability.
primexx
Samsung is the best right now, until Intel brings their new home-brewed controller to the consumer market.
YounGMessiah
I would go with the 840 Pro, you will be so happy and it has a possible lifespan of approx. 50-60 years!

Bryan R.
If I have to choose between the drives you posted, I would go with the OCZ. However, as far as choosing one outside of your choices, the 840 Pro is the gold standard right now. I use them in my server and PC builds. Astra.Xtreme
The Samsung 840 Pro (must be the Pro model) is top notch. The 840 Evo is also really really good.
