Yoga 2 Pro, Wifi Direct?

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I just got the Yoga 2 Pro, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it support Wifi Direct? I tried looking online and couldn't figure out. I checked the product page and I tried looking at Intels site but I'm still not sure

Intel? Wireless-N 7260 (802.11bgn)

Thanks :)

On that note can my hp g6 laptop support Wifi Direct? I don't know if wifi direct requires specific wifi H/W or not.

It depends on the wireless card you have installed, and whether it supports wifi direct or not.

Which wireless card have you got?

Its an  Internal one !  I beleive this. My laptop is really old though. early 2012

A quick search online shows Realtek RTL8188CE   is wifi-direct capable. From memory the Realtek's add a virtual wifi adaptor for wifi-direct

According to the release notes for v16 driver for the 7260 it should support wifi-direct.

To test, open up Intel My Wifi dashboard, and search for other devices (you will need a 2nd wifi-direct device).

Download the full driver and software package for your device direct from intel's website.

EDIT: I found the download and installed it but my phone isn't showing up and my PC isn't showing up on my phone. :(

You should have a wifi-direct on/off toggle along with a do not disturb toggle on the right hand side of the dashboard. It needs to be turned on, before it will find anything.
