Scary 1961 Pre-recorded Nuclear Attack Message

Recommended Posts

This is a actual 1961 pre-recorded attack message. There is a added tone in the beginning of the video that's not apart of the original pre-recorded message. At the beginning of the video the Civil Defense Announcer gives instruction and at the end there's a message from Governor Elmer l Andersen of Minnesota. Imagine the chaos and confusion that would have ensued  following after this message. This message would be the last thing a lot of people would hear back then before the attack.

Never heard anything like this before, it's really quite scary hearing things like "do you not attempt to rejoin your family".

Man, they must have thought some wild things about nuclear explosions. Yes, you will totally be able to call a special session of your state legislature after a nuclear attack. If the building is still there. And the people aren't irradiated, blind, dead or vaporized. Totally fine, don't worry about it, hey kids go under your school desks/chairs you will be perfectly safe!

Reminded me of a Southpark episode where they told everyone to drop and cover their heads in case of volcanic lava flow.

"This will put emergency plans  into effect for your welfare" I think this another thing for Marshall law or just the states nuclear attack plans
