Ok so my daughter is an amater song writer/gutarist, she has written a song for her boyfriend for Xmas (yeah makes me shudder too, but what can you do ;) ).

I've tried squawking down a mic....and it ended badly, very badly she nearly disowned me....

I'd like to request if anyone on Neowin can sing and has 10mins to spare, if they could help me & her out by singing it and sending me the recording so i can mix it over her playing the guitar

I'd be forever grateful :D

A lovely idea. Sadly I'm the same as you, I go to sing and windows and mirrors shatter before the first note leaves my mouth.

Will we be able to hear the finished result?

I wouldn't even dare try to sing - I sound like Ringo Starr on dope when singing. Unless you want your daughter's bf to have nightmares I'll pass. :p

yeah id post it back here....and she said if some one will do it she doesn't mind even if they do song and tune and everything. she is in Love (still makes me shudder ) and this is his xmas pressy...Its the words that she wrote that are the important bit apparently...

That reminds me, we need to get your christmas present. You wanted the 12-gauge, right? :p

Might we be able to see the lyrics here? I just thought, you're not going to want someone who "sings" (ref: screams) metal music to try singing a love song about puppies and unicorns.

I can't sing either I'm afraid... But I could mix it if you wanted and add some pitch correction to polish it off :)

Cats hiss and spit, dogs howl, when I start singing unfortunately.

Have you considered using an electronic voice for the lyrics?

Have you tried switching it off and on again? :p

Sorry my singing for you would not only end her relationship, but rather likely cause death in small furry creatures and would result in multple divorce cases.

I stink at singing and I cant sing at all. I like to sing "Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Gangnam Style" to annoy my family on occasions though. :D

I can probably do it. But I can't guarantee she won't end up falling for me instead.

Voices available:

Hipster voice

annoying punk voice

forced raspy rock voice

Rick Astley voice

Rap voice

country singer voice

Also I can pretend to sing like a woman since it may or may not be weird for a guy to sing a song written for another guy.

Here's pop/hipster voice mode

NOOOOO. If you can't sing in the correct key you should consider another career path.

DEATH to Autotune

EDIT: No I can't sing and I know it, but I can lay down a mean ass  bass line. :p
