Fallout 4 announcement soon?

Recommended Posts

Bethesda might have registered and launched a new site with a countdown, and morse code message for for "11 December 2013""

The sites address is www.thesurvivor2299.com. A WHOIS check reveals that the site is registered to Zenimax Media, at their corporate address. For those playing at home, Zenimax Media is the parent company of Bethesda Game Studios.

HOWEVER the IP address traces to a hosting facility in Poland (vibiznes.pl). This would appear an unusual choice - Most of Bethesda's facilities are of course in the USA, with some zenimax sister companies present France and Ireland. The site is registered through a completely different registrar than Bethesda usually uses (GoDaddy rather than CSC domains), and does not use the normal Zenimax name server, but its own.

The font looks similar to fonts previously used in fallout games.

The Site apparently contained java script files named "Fallout.js" (Removed before we could verify - EDIT , verified, thaks WishyWitchy), but still contains "Fallout.css" as the name for the sites style sheet.

This could be it... Or it could be another game... Or it could be a troll. There's no word yet on the Bethesda press site, nor have we received any emails from them, nor any tweets...

November 15, 2013 (UTC) Given the lack of official word, and that the site seems completely divorced from Zenimax's usual IT infrastructure, we're gunna have to downgrade this to unlikely. Although there are Fallout named files, and a link to the Bethesda youtube channel in the code... Those could be done by anyone and don't prove provenance.

Of course we're going to get a new Fallout and Elder Scrolls game.

Will it be announced on the date the website hints at (which coincides with the VGAs) ? Maybe.

Bethesda usually announces titles at the VGAs or shows off a trailers for one.

Will be interesting to see what platforms they launch it for though.

Betheseda acquiring the Fallout license, was one of the worst things happened in gaming industry in the last decade. They ruined the Fallout series completely, and while Fallout 3 was not a bad game, it had nothing to do with the Fallout as envisioned by the original creators. Such a shame. Not looking forward to Fallout 4.

ah cry me a river about original artistic vision, fall out 3 and even so New Vegas were great games and provided hours of gaming fun and laughter and some of the content in there.  Can't wait for an announcement.  2013 will be a worse off year if we don't get an announcement.

I think you need to give that dream up. I'd be insulted if they tried to take the work of others and pass it off as their own.

Also, for what it's worth, games like Call of Duty get criticized for being nothing but more of the same. How would the vision of the creators differ from them, considering their version of Fallout 3 was to look and play no different than Fallout 2? Just some food for thought really; I'm not trying to antagonize you but trying to understand the logic here with people's arguments.

the vision of the creators

Except that the mentioned creators think rather opposite. Tim Cain has stated he enjoyed both F3 and NV very much and Avellone basically wrote and directed New Vegas and its DLCs and there was certain involvement of Urquhart as well. Yes, the modern Fallout is a step in rather different direction, the original "vision" is continued in the reborn Wasteland games, but that doesn't make them bad games, especially when they have full blessing of the mentioned creators.

There's really no sign of logic in hating modern renditions and argumenting it with some vision of the creators. Leave creators alone, creators can speak and have spoken for themselves.

Also known as The Commonwealth, I'd like to see that as well. Would present an opportunity for some fresh ideas, too, what with the mysterious Institute mentioned just in passing in F3 Rivet City, and androids and other biotech perhaps borrowing a bit from Deus Ex, only painted so much darker. And, well, further alienate fans of the classic Fallout...

I have never played the older fallout games, but I love Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They are extraordinary games. I have not never became bored playing either games too. The amount of places to explorer is endless and you go on and on in different side missions as well do the main mission to.

And the modding scene, which is still very active on Nexus sites! Most likely there's a brand new game engine at the ready for Fallout 4, but I hope it allows for mods. Things like high-res texture packs coupled with Cinematech, Imaginator and Dynavision bring the admiteddly now quite dated-looking graphics to whole new levels. Sadly, ENBSeries had certain annoying bugs (like sun shining through cliffs) when I last tried it, but it's probably fixed now. And that's just me, who likes graphically souped up vanilla experience. There's something for everyone from loonies to hardcore realists.

I think you misunderstood my post.
