applecare AppleCare for iPod touch 5G needed - Not able to find it in India

So, my iPod touch 5G is about to get one year old and I just about realised that I should get AppleCare Protection if I want an extended warranty for it. But the thing is I am not able to find it anywhere in stock around me, even on online retailers. I have contacted Apple support and they have been kind enough to allow me to activate my warranty till some days after my warranty expires. I just need to inform as and when I am equipped to activate my extended warranty.

 

Now, two questions:

1. Is AppleCare worth it?

2. Can I activate through old AppleCare plans being sold on some online retailers. I am not sure if they are applicable to my 5G as it's not mentioned anywhere.

 

The one I am able to understand applies to touch 5G is with the code MC249LLB. 

 

Any help would be appreciated.
