I have a complaint too..

Recommended Posts

Some members always find it necessary to derail topics by complaining about lack of or too much staff moderation, what always makes me  is that such posts go against our community rules because they derail the topic, what does such a poster hope to achieve by bringing up such a thing in a post that has nothing to do with the subject matter? Especially when there is Site & Forum Issues (right here) that I regularly check and respond to peoples posts as well.

Such complaints is a forum issue, and in many cases when a moderator responds that members should use the report link to complain about attitude in news comments or forum posts by other members I always think to myself, is that not self explanatory by now? I think the report link is as old as this site.

This also goes for people who insist on going in threads and then announcing "oh wow I'm just waiting for all the keyboard warriors to show up!" <- that is trolling, don't do it.

Finally, about the staff team, we are all people. We are not robots, there are trolls here that make the forums a less nice place to visit, but as a community member, - yes, you reading this - don't complain at us individually in topics, and don't get baited by those people in topics, simply report them.  YOU as a member run the risk of being warned for falling into a trolls trap, don't blame us for it when we're the ones who have to clean up.

And please quit derailing topics, make yourself heard in the correct manner and place.

Wow that feels good to vent rather than having to read peoples "pointy finger wagging at us" posts in places they shouldn't be.

Fire away!

Well, if people would stop comparing the xbone to ps4 things might be a little better! /s but not really.

However, yes the rate at which topics become derailed is crazy.

Wow! An entire post directed towards me. :o Fine, I promise to never mention keyboard warriors or troll again. :p

If you see that, there is a Report button that should be used, there's no use complaining in a post because the staff may never see that thread.

Wasn't really complaining since I don't usually encounter problems that the staff need to take action. My above post was meant to be a joke.

So far as derailing a topic, I agree, as it has a habit of turning into a flame fest.

I do have a habit of going off topic, but usually this is due to an issue I might be experiencing, and another member that I know can help is currently in the thread, so I'll ask there instead of opening a thread just to have it closed after one or two replies, but I always apologise for my off topic post.

I guess the point of this post would be to ask, if this is still considered ok if it's a 'once in a blue moon' event?

(historically I've received help from our, (not to blow sunshine up their ass, but to me, the members I'm thinking, of deserve this the title ---> ) wonderful community almost immediately doing so)

(My only complaint would be some members that have next to nothing to contribute think they're the law.)

It's perfectly fine to start a new topic with a question, I'd encourage that over having existing topics derailed with some sort of apology.

Ok then, it isn't always obvious what tone a sentence should be read in. :P
