IE 7,8,9 for Windows 8

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking for a way to run IE 7, 8 and 9 on Windows 8 because I am developing websites and would like to test my website for older browser compatibility, is there any way to do this or tools to test with?

your best bet is "IETester"

IETester is a free (both for personal and professional usage) WebBrowser that allows you to have the rendering and javascript engines of IE10IE9IE8IE7 IE 6 and IE5.5 on Windows 8 desktop, Windows 7, Vista and XP, as well as the installed IE in the same process.

As above other mentioned you can try them or this?

Personally I wouldn't recommend that as your testing tool, it's close but not perfect.

Microsoft provide Virtual Machine images for testing on various versions & combinations: http://www.modern.ie/en-US/virtualization-tools#downloads

There's also a 3mo free offer for browser stacks on that page.

Virtual machine installing Windows multiple times and running them all is quite resource consuming and a little hassle really. I am trying that debugbar out now. Also BrowserStack.org is good I will make use of this up until my trial ends.

The emulation modes is okay but I noticed using emulation vs actually the browser produces different results.

The virtual machines are pre-configured, all you need to do is boot them and start browsing.

Thanks all, lots of good options here! It is just I am having an issue with my website not displaying correctly on IE9 (it is a modern HTML5/CSS3 website that is Responsive) and need to emulate it to try debug the problem.
