Photos of Inside a Western Digital 250GB HDD

Recommended Posts

This WD 250GB Hard Drive went belly up so I decided to take photos inside of it using my Canon Rebel 300D.

The innards of hard drives always mesmerized me!

Nice, this reminds me of something, has anyone seen a laptop drive from an external HDD but instead of a SATA header it has a mini USB connector ON the board? I had to try and recover data a couple of weeks ago and was lucky as I was able to bend the pins in the connector to get a stable connection. It was something I have never seen before.

I remember back in 2002 I had a 30GB or maybe it as a 60GB 10,000 RPM SCSI hard drive. Holy Christ that ****er was fast!. That thing booted Windows XP like nobodies business. But Holy ball sack did that hard drive get HOT, you would practically burn yourself if you were to touch it after an hour.

Cool pictures. Sometimes I feel like a crow/raven because shiny things look cool to me.

So shiny :)

There are a couple of pretty strong magnets in there, that are worth keeping.

Don't stick them on skin though....

I was 15. I am now 26. Will never do that again.
