No links to the actual reviews? :(

EuroGamer seems to think a fair bit less then the others, would be interested to read that one.

They are linked.

It seems to be due to the cars/tracks cut down from FM4 to get it out as a launch title (26 tracks down to 14, etc). That and the DLC/monetisation of the game.

It's a shame. Not for the cars as much as they've chosen the list quite well, covering all classes but the large reduction in tracks is a no-no (especially getting rid of N?rburgring/Suzuka). Yas Marina Circuit looks sterile but Bathurst does look amazing. However, things are gonna get repetitive very quickly.

I've noticed that EuroGamer scores games less than everyone else most of the time.  I wouldn't make much out of it or any review.  You should play the game, any game, and see for yourself.

I am really interested in trying Forza Motorsport 5 and see how it stacks up to Gran Turismo 6.

Those are surprisingly high numbers considering the game is, unfortunately, half the game of the previous one.

The content is halved. The quality, however...

Gran Turismo simply imports all the car models of the previous one. In Forza, they've put an insane amount of time into every detail of the cars included. This gives for a more realistic looking game. It's gonna be fantastic for sure.

Because they are not just importing year old low-quality outdated content unlike the "other" game.

Ridiculous scores from the so called gaming press as usual. Is it so much to ask for a little integrity? How a game which only ships half on the disc requiring you to purchase the rest in DLC gets near perfect scores is beyond me and only Eurogamer even seem to bother mention it.

Apart from both consoles being completely unready and rushed there is another reason im sitting out of next gen at the moment with all the nefarious DLC content and microtransactions. I'm sick of it.

It will destroy GT6, there is no comparison. I'm a big fan of both franchises (I own most of the games from both and really enjoy them). Personally I feel is stupid to compare GT6 to FM5 (since one is current gen and the other is next gen) however, as many people have pointed out since GT6 and FM5 will be out vaguely the same time people will compare them. One thing that really nailed it home for me to just how hopelessly far behind GT6 is [in comparison to FM5], I was watching some gameplay movies of a race on Bathurst (as an Aussie I am thrilled to see the track included in both games) the difference was profound. On GT6, it looks flat and lifeless and suffering from really bad shadows (it also looks washed out, however, since it's an off screen capture I'll willing to turn a blind eye to that one) while in FM5 on the other hand was amazing...

Am I saying GT6 is a bad game? no! I have my copy pre ordered and cannot wait. However, FM5 is just on a completely different level and there is just no comparison at all. PD will really need to step up their game with GT7 if they want to compete in the next gen. I don't plan on buying a X1 just yet, but FM5 will be a guaranteed buy when I do (Y)

Rushing the game out instead of giving it a much needed delay to provide the content it should have is a better plan?

Well...this seals the deal for me. No Xbox 1 either...you want me to buy tokens so I can buy cars in the game or waste days trying to level up a single car.

No thanks, and that's a pitty because I've bought every Forza game until now.

I agree its unfair to compare a next generation and current generation game. Polyphony makes masterpieces of gran turismo games and they know their stuff. They've been developing the gran turismo game since the early 90s. I think Polyphony will create an amazing Gran turismo 7 game when they do. Forza 5 does looks amazing though. I think driving physics are also another highly important thing to take in consideration, not just graphics.

There's still a ton of cars in the game..

It's not like they gave you three and told to you to buy the rest.

The step back in cars and content was due to the changes in quality. They didn't bring over things that were previous gen and would have looked terrible.

Seems a bit backwards to bemoan the lack of content when it's completely justified and was announced in advance..

Completely justified. Much rather a smaller quantity of extremely detailed cars and tracks, then a handful of good ones complimented with heaps of mediocre ones. GT was the same before PD got obsessed with car/track counts. GT3 on the PS2 had a tiny amount of cars and tracks compared to GT2 and then in GT4 it exploded. I hope PD return from the clouds with GT7 and strip it all down and start from scratch, no left overs from previous GTs. FM5 pretty much proves Turn 10 are not interested in the whole car count race, so PD needs to cut it out and come back to earth! Alright, I think I've said enough about that :P back to the topic at hand....

Anyway, to be honest I feel what Turn 10 has done is a step forward. They have basically said we want nothing but the best, the car/track is either spectacularly good or it's out till we can make it so. A wonderful attitude and gamers will truly benefit from it (Y)

A better attitude would be to not ship a game until it's done, especially if they do indeed want 'the best'. Cutting out half the content to meet a date that's clearly too early, then adding in only a fraction of the missing content as very expensive dlc($50 for only 60 cars) is anything but a step forward and hardly something beneficial to gamers.

Im sorry but in what world are you living in where this is justified:

For 2,334 Tokens you can buy either a McLaren P1 or Ferrari Enzo. A Token pack costing ?15.99 will cover either of those cars (you can buy packs of Tokens at the following prices: 100 is ?0.79, 575 is ?3.99, 1250 is ?7.99, 2700 is ?15.99, 8000 is ?39.99 and 20,000 is ?64.99), so with the 2700 Token pack that's one vehicle for ?13.82. But there's much more expensive cars in Forza Motorsport 5, but the more Tokens you buy, the cheaper they are. If you bought the 20,000 pack (costing ?64.99) the McLaren would cost just ?7.58.

From the same pricing, a Veyron Super Sport will set you back ?13.00, and the most expensive car in the game, the Lotus E21 will cost an incredible ?32.50. The smaller the pack of Tokens, the more expensive they are, so the worst possible way of picking up the game's most expensive car would be to buy 100 of the 100 Token packs, bagging you the exclusive 10,000 Token Lotus E21 for a cool ?79.

Thats not a gaming environment I want to be part of. Sure you could spend forever grinding these things but when the developer purposely increases the grind/removes content from the game specifically for this purpose the game should not be supported. At the very minimum, you should expect a "gaming press" to highlight this, yet all they do is give perfect scores. Its pathetic.
