Forza Motorsport 5 reviews

Did they literally just take photos of the dev team and crop them for crowds? Front left looks like Dan Greenawalt.

It's not that important, but even the photos are repeated far too much in that shot alone.

So you guys can't help yourselves but to start arguing over Forza and GT. A little bit of the old fanboy arguments.

That is shocking to be honest. GT6 is just coming out. If that is true, that means they have been working on GT7 in parallel. It also could mean more recycled assets from GT6.

I know one thing that led to Turn 10 dropping some tracks and cars with Forza 5 was the time it was taking to scan each of those into the system using their new laser scanning technique.

Polyphony is obviously working on a Gran Turismo 7. I suspect they have been working on it since w well before the announcement of the ps4. The graphics of racing simulation games aren't as important as the physics are. If you are going to compare gt6 to forza 5, you should compare the physics between the two, not the graphics.

I'm not comparing the two at all.

Just comparing GT 6 to GT 7. GT has a track record for taking a while to be released. Like I said, maybe they are reusing assets to cut down on dev time.

The Forza team has reused assets as well for previous versions. For F5 they took a clean slate and started creating brand new assets.

Your right though, while graphics are nice in a sim racer, its the physics and ai that really matter.

You could take a 1990s driving game, add current day driving physics and it would be very enjoyable.

Yeah, it's amazing how different it actually came out, between the shadows, depth, aliasing, lighting, crowd, and the obligatory lens flare. :p

Reveal:

Current:

Its been long known game developers make gameplay\images prettier for ads and reveals.

At first I thought a lot had changed and then I realized those screenshots are off by a few frames.

Still, you can see the difference in the crowd and the addition of the lens flare.

Also, it seems that the reveal image had more blur in the lower left corner than in the current image, which is actually sharper.

I agree with trooper11, the current one actually looks sharper and more detailed.. screenshots are further down the track and angle is different, looks impressive either way.

I was never buying an X1 just for this game, but i can't wait to get Forza after seeing how well its reviewed. Hopefully the super pack with digital downloads will be on sale by then.

The retail looks much better minus the crowd IMO.

Also, can we please stay on topic of Forza 5 and the reviews. Thanks

It has to do with the depth of field. The sharpness you're seeing on the current one is likely because they reduced it. Usually, many only use the DoF that high for cinematic quality. Although, many do play their games like that, as you've probably seen with all the enb mods with GTAIV and Skyrim. The reveal also appears to have greater contrast and the lighting closer to what you'd see in the real world.

For what it's worth, I still think the game will be great. Just found the graphical differences to be interesting.

Those really don't look like forza 5 reveal images  you going to have to show more clear proof and evidence. I am not convinced

This game is absolutely amazing. Hands down, the best launch game i've seen on any console launch.  I give it 9/10 and would be 10/10 if it had more tracks.

If you go in expecting a career mode and a love of cars, you will be in love. if you expect arcade racing, go elsewhere.

The production, performance, presentation and polish on this game is just insane.  I bought the digital download copy so i would never need a disk and it started playing pretty quickly after the initial install.. i didn't see what the install % was before it allowed me to launch but the background download didn't seem to hinder any performance either.   I have uverse 50mbit.

hopefully my drivatar is out there kicking some ass, if you see blahism wave :D

honestly, it feels more like a driving experience more than a driving game.. just sit back and take it all in

It's a shame. Not for the cars as much as they've chosen the list quite well, covering all classes but the large reduction in tracks is a no-no (especially getting rid of N?rburgring/Suzuka). Yas Marina Circuit looks sterile but Bathurst does look amazing. However, things are gonna get repetitive very quickly.

That's my gripe with FM4, it got repetitive way too fast. There were so many events that utilized the same track layout. Oh well DLC could add tracks

Forza 5 looks amazing, but I noticed  the jump in graphics between its predecessor isn't as huge. It is an impressive looking game nevertheless.
