Black Friday shoppers line up

Hands off that external hard drive, bucko!

Extreme shoppers are already lining up for Black Friday deals at the Best Buy in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Jonas Allooh, 28, was the first to set up shop outside the big-box electronics retailer, according to Akron Beacon Journal Online. Allooh brought a generator, a microwave, a bed, a TV, and a videogame console. So, yeah, he's prepared.

The paper reports that a short time after Allooh started squatting, another shopper, Tony Avitar, set up his own makeshift camp right next to him.

Fox 8 News reports that Avitar has camped out for deals on Black Friday for the past 11 years.

"It was the second year I did it; nobody had the bright idea of camping out in tents," he told the station. "So, we just did sleeping bags on the sidewalk, and it was freezing rain for 16 hours."

Allooh set up his camp on Monday, which means he will have waited 11 days by the time the deals begin Thanksgiving evening.

If I was unemployed I'd be the first in line.  Then sell my spot to the highest bidder.

I'd be out looking for a job, even if seasonal labor just for holidays.

There's a services out there where you can pay someone to wait in line for you.

People who wait in line may have jobs, they could be taking a vacation, independently wealthy, or there the stay at home parent.

It may be the only time some of them can afford what they're waiting for I guess. That's fine with me. Some have nothing better to do, it's a hobby, it's a joy for them. Lots of people do things I don't. Like sit in the bushes for hours waiting for a turkey to go by. Different strokes, it's an American tradition. Having said that, it's way too early unless we're talking serious, serious savings, lol. Consider it an urban camp out I guess.

I don't know about you guys, but on Black Friday I'll be standing outside one of the local micro-breweries to get their annual Black Friday IPA. None of that overnight crap though.  Some crazy people did camp out after bar close.  Last year I got there about 2 hours early and was about 200th in line.  Still managed to snag a few bottles before they sold out.  This year I'll remember to bring some arctic gear since it looks like it's going to be negative degree wind chills again.
