Best I can make out is it sounds like he has to restart his machine twice.. But not sure why ;) His boot order is not right maybe? Just guessing?

"my 3 HDD turned off"

Google translate fail maybe? ;) This is not twitter, you can use as many words as needed to accurately describe your issue so that we can help you..

He has three hard drives, they go off, then on, then off, then the computer restarts.... I think

Not sure why a new SSD would cause such behavior though. Is the SSD firmware updated?

Id bet on this :p Lets see whos right...

Id say he tried to restart his computer, (somehow or way) he knows his third hard drive turned off, it turned back on, then it turned back off again, and restarted (automatically) his PC again and now it is stuck in a loop.

Place your bets everyone.

My odds at winning the bet increase :shifty:

Be careful around data loss , back everything up and update your drivers. Check your bios settings related to your HDD's and their order in the boot list. Run SFC/SCANNOW in CMD and check for any programs wich could keep your hard disks busy . Good luck !

guys, we found him! bring the reward in!

:D

for those who didn't understand, sorry if i wasn't clear enough.

il try to make it right, here goes:

since i migrated to SSD, the other HDD's, spin off, on, off, everytime i restart the computer.

to be clearer: HDD's = 7200 WD, not the SSD.

how can i solve it?

and yes, firmware updated.

i really think its OS related, i just dont know how to fix it.

I am not understanding your issue - no **** if you reboot your machine your HDD should cycle?

What are you expecting should happen?

Unless your using the drive, why shouldn't it spin down? So if you boot up OS off of X, and you have other drives in the system Y and Z.. Why do you think Y and Z should not spin down if your booting off X??

bud thank u for replying, but i need a solution.

for the last time il explain, everytime i restart.( start -> restart)

3 HDD turn off, then on then off, then my pc restart.

never had this situation, never saw it, its begun since i moved to SSD.

i wish icould solve it.

if anyone here think its normal, then your wrong.

Try Linux (or more seriously you could attempt to verify whether it is an OS issue by seeing if a LiveCD of Linux has the issue just to see if you can pin down the location of the issue a bit).

And how long does this process take? And how are you knowing that the drives spin down?

Why do you give a **** if the drives spin on or off if your in the middle of a reboot?

When I restart my machine, I don't even know what the drives are doing.. Which is why I am curious how your know they are spinning down, then on and then off during your reboot?

well if the drives have been powered down due to the power settings putting them to sleep then  before a restart, the os has to spin up the drives and write any changes to them before restarting.

If you migrated to a SSD and not do a fresh install of your Windows O/S then that may be a factor as well.
Usually thou, in the reboot process they dont power down unless you have the power settings set to sleep, if thats the case just choose a default profile for your power settings to see if that is the issue.
If not, people can throw out other ideas.

iv'e explored other options, registry settings, and above all, change the power saving policy, so no such behavior will happen.

this process takes like 30 40 seconds.

i care because i dont want my HDD's will die in a couple of months.

because i hear them, i have full tower case, and i noticed it late at night, you can hear them powering down,up, down.

Segate drives are evidently rated at 50,000 spin-up/down cycles for their Barracuda series. So that's approximately 5.7 years if it does that once a day.

I dislike seagate drives for the record, but there isn't that much of a choice these days...

Constant spinning up/down is what wares hard drives out budman, friction is most when it's spinning up from being still hence whereby the drive head is eroded the most.

Sounds like your motherboard is crap (a Dell by any chance?) and your OS is using a hack so that it properly restarts?

An HDD head doesn't physically touch the platters of a drive... Also, on any modern drive, the head is going to be locked in place when the drive is off or spinning down to prevent the head from crashing. Some drives go even further and have motion detectors in place to lock the head if g-force is exerted on the drive.

The issue is more that the drive will stop spinning up or have issues spinning up after spinning up many times.

You should try removing one HDD at a time and see if the problem persists. Repeat the test cycle with each of them removed in order . Sounds like a bad HDD toys with your Mobo and / or with the rest of your drives.

It could also be your SSD the faulty one ?

Moreover , get those HDD's out and try to connect them on a different computer , eventually save any data you might find available.

Keep your eyes open for Western Digital next time , I don't trust any other brand , excluding Hitachi wich still serves me well!

My point is how does he know what the drives are doing.. I have full tower case as well, and I don't hear ######.. If you hear drives "spinning" in the first place seems like more of a problem to me ;)

You sure its not just your case fans your hearing?

And its right at my feet, in a bit of cave in the desk.. When the fan gets a bit off wack or some dust I can hear that for sure.. But I don't hear the spinning of drives ;) Are they 15k rpm or something? I sure don't hear any of my 7200's even when I have them out and connected to a usb cable.. Only way can tell they are up is light and if you touch them you can feel them spinning.

But I don't hear them, either you have super hearing or something wrong with the drives, or your hearing something else.

How about looking at your smart info for power cycle counts.. Then reboot your machine and look at the count again.. Going to do this right now on my HDD. BRB

Um what? I have 3 different external 7200rpm drives and every one of them is audible when spinning up. I also have a few internals and they are audible from the opposite side of the room when they spin up in my desktop PC.
