Finally got my Xbox One.

Recommended Posts

Finally got my Xbox One home. Got it hooked up. And pulling the Day 1 patch now. Typing this as I go through setup process)

The console isn't that bad looking. I don't hear a sound from it so far (kinda scared me at first)

Controller is a tad bit small in my huge hands. The analogs feel raised compared to the 360. And the D-pad is a REAL D-pad (we can all rejoice now)

When turning on the console it stays on the Xbox One splash screen for about a full minute (don't be alarmed by this). Then goes to a black screen for about 10-15seconds (once again don't be alarmed)

Then the setup process begins. The One immediately knew it was hooked up to a LAN cable.

Asked if I wanted English (There were other langurs there as well) and prompts me to update the console.

The Day 1 patch went very smoothly and fast (could be due to my 25down & 25up speeds). Now it's installing (which is no more than a green status bar just below the middle of the screen)

The One reboots (what's with Microsoft and this long splash screen?). Back to setup, where you go through Time zone, Kinect, and logging in. Pretty straightforward.

Once logged in it goes into a video montage (didn't see that coming). Then prompts you to hit the Xbox button on the controller.

Tried the QR CODE with Kinect it's instant. Confirms the code and puts it right in for you (a welcome for all I would think)

Yep it's true, there are moments you do have to repeat yourself to Kinect and you have to be very clear with the commands given to it. It just mistaken go to 'Pins' with go to 'Friends'.

Xbox Off works really fast (even with confirmation). Xbox On works very fast as well (can be because I have nothing installed on the console yet)

TIME TO TINKER. WILL KEEP THIS UPDATED!!!

Edit 1: put in the NBA 2K14 disc (while browsing the store) it began installation (and also notified me the game has an additional 1GB update with it) all while staying in the Store. NBA 2K14 done installing. Didn't take long at all actually (6-8minutes before it becomes playable actually at 14% overall. This is installing from Disc mind you). Installing NBA 2K14 is the first time I heard the console make a single blip of noise

Just bought KI: Ultimate Edition (I suck at fighting games, why did I just do this :-) nostalgia I guess..

Edit 2: Kinect help right in front of my face. Say "Xbox, more shortcuts and a list of commands pop up and there are plenty of them to learn

Did you pre-order or did you pick it up at a store? I think we're both in CT, so I'm wondering if it's even possible to get one as a walk-in at this point.

I pre-ordered during E3 as soon as it went live (amazon)

So, is it what you thought it would be?

So far it's too early to tell. There are menus with sub menu, after sub menu... They have to find a way to shed some button clicks (or maybe this is their way of hinting to use Kinect for navigating the system)

Damn - I should stay away from Xbox forums for next month or so. I am so tempted right now. :(

Ah, lots of hidden stuff?  Been reading the reviews, seems like a cool system, very voice driven though.  How about the Kinect does it recognize well? or does it take some repeating?

UPS and family member confirmed! 2 Xbox One's arrived about 3 hours ago! (From Microsoft Store), Amazon games will be there, guaranteed, within the next 2 hours. I can't wait to get home.

Start coughing uncontrollably and say you have to go home because you're sick!

So far Kinect is 85%-90% accurate. The main culprit is, you have to be exact in what you say to it.

How many games did you buy? try making a video like this.

Will do once some more games install. Sucks that installation is one game at a time it seems...

The One can handle 1080p/60fps without issue, if NBA 2K14 is anything to go by. This game looks amazing. The crowd the players all feel alive.

Did you mean download?

No. I actually bought NBA 2K14 on disc. Figured it's an annual sports game no need to down it

It appears games take a while to fully install.
