My friend won't let me connect mine in fear of screwing his console up. I have read that this may be a software issue. I may just send the unit in anyways. I want to use the tv portion and I can't without a functioning Kinect.

Well, I finally got through to Microsoft on Sunday on the phone. After explaining my situation to the tech, she is cross shipping me a new Kinect. We never went though any troubleshooting at all. Apparently they are aware of this issue. I received an email from MS that it would ship in the next 2 business days. Even though my Kinect was defective, I was happy to hear they would ship one out to me first. When the replacement arrives I hope it works and it isn't my console.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the new Kinect Microsoft shipped me worked like a champ. Everything is working beautifully now. Hopefully some of the day one Kinects had a defect that didn't carry through to the rest of production.
