Xbox One Kinect stopped working

Recommended Posts

After setting my day one console after about 10 minutes my Kinect died. The light no longer illuminates and the Xbox One keeps telling me its disconnected. I've rebooted, reset to factory defaults and unplugged/plugged to no avail. Any one else?

My friend won't let me connect mine in fear of screwing his console up. I have read that this may be a software issue. I may just send the unit in anyways. I want to use the tv portion and I can't without a functioning Kinect.

I am hold with them.right now. I was definitely patient and waited till it was all ready. It worked for a while before it quit. I had done the Kinect calibration etc. Goofed around with snapping all by voice etc. I downloaded Fitness and shortly after that it quit.

Mine is dead too. Was working on Friday and I came to use it today for the first time since and I'm just getting a Kinect is unplugged message. No lights or anything. Powered the console off for a while and disconnected/reconnected it but no luck.

What surprises me is the amount of posts on the MS support forums about it. There are a lot of people having this problem. Seems MS are offering to swap the Kinects out.

Fortunately the console itself still works so I can still play my games but it's still irritating.

No problem with mine, how was yours installed / placed?

That cable is a monster, would be surprised if it was the cable, may just be a dead kinect head

He's an idiot. You can tell him that from me.

Well, I finally got through to Microsoft on Sunday on the phone.  After explaining my situation to the tech, she is cross shipping me a new Kinect.  We never went though any troubleshooting at all.  Apparently they are aware of this issue.  I received an email from MS that it would ship in the next 2 business days.  Even though my Kinect was defective, I was happy to hear they would ship one out to me first.  When the replacement arrives I hope it works and it isn't my console. :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that the new Kinect Microsoft shipped me worked like a champ.  Everything is working beautifully now.  Hopefully some of the day one Kinects had a defect that didn't carry through to the rest of production.
